*licks finger, makes an imaginary mark in the air* Shucks, down one for the WAHMS.

*in best sports announcer voice* luv2stayathomemom may have come thru for save!

TomG> As my Nana used to say, consider the source. (She also used to say, "Ignore it, it'll go away.")

And please don't judge all of us by one bad apple. Your post and your help with answering questions have been very generous. So is offering to pay for the test article.

To be fair, I must say we all are a little skittish/skeptical when it comes to any offer of a work at home job. Many have been taken by scams, some many times. It tends to get to the best of us. We start asking questions and picking apart a job offer sometimes to the point of rudeness. However that's not excuse for being unprofessional or rude. But it does sometimes bring out the worst in us.

So as my Nana used to say... lol!

Everyone, this behavior is one of the reasons that employers withdraw offers for working from home and bring people back in-house and leave the idea of telecommuting with a bad taste in their mouth.

OK, let's get back on topic. I got back an "article" from one of the members. Did I need to say that this writing should be your OWN??? Hello? Here's an excerpt:

"To prepare your Celtic jewelry for shipment, we will polish it thoroughly and pack it gently in luxurious materials to ensure safe and speedy delivery via FedEx. From ordering to receipt, the process takes around 14 - 20 business days for handmade rings and a little less for other Celtic jewelry pieces, such as pendants and crosses. Silver items take 10 – 12 business days. However, if it’s urgent, we may be able to speed this up – if so, please contact us before ordering."

Please, please don't insult my intelligence. Why would you plagiarize a website's copy when applying for a job with a WEB DEVELOPMENT firm? Yikes!

OK, since I did not say it explicitly earlier, send in your own work as the point was to see how YOU write. Thanks.

TomG.

Anyone have any updates? Payments received, feedback or even gotten hired yet?

Default yes he's still looking...

I have received feedback and again he, like other employers, is fishing through resumes and the articles that we all sent. So I expect he will get in touch with us. He does reply instantly via email. I can only speak for myself, but from what I have encountered he is a very nice guy and knows what he is looking for. His feedback on the articles are honest and not cruel at all, just informative. Again, we have exchanged emails throughout the day and I know he is working on each of the articles. So like myself, if anyone has questions in regards to his post send him an email...he want bite...lol

Thumbs up

I also received $5 from him. After submitting my article, I received an immediate response from him, to let me know that he had received the article and would be making his final decision on Monday. The payment followed later in the evening.

I am impressed and find him to be very professional. How many times have you applied for a position and heard NOTHING back? No acknowledgement, receipt or status of your application?

I will say that my empathy went out the window with the above statement though. Everyone needs work, men and women alike. Everyone has bills, obligations and expenses.

To say one sex needs work more than another is beyond simple minded.

If you ask me, these jobs mean more to:
-Single parents who can't afford child care to work outside the home,
-Single income families that are struggling because one parent can't work due to child care costs,
-Those who are disabled and unable to work outside the home,
-Individuals who can't find work in their town because they are in school and being turned away because of schedule conflicts.

None of that has any gender requirements though now does it...

I typically don't get heated when it comes to forums, but seriously - wow.
If I may say one last thing before I let this go...

It was not my intent to start a gender battle. In TMG's response to my difficulty, he referenced the gender issue. That is why I posted what I did. If this website is reserved ONLY for the stay at home mom, I will go start my own site, SAHF (instead of stay-at-home-dad SAHD . But the owner of the site, I am fully confident, would stand behind the Fathers of the house, just as much as she would the mothers in the house.

Consequently, husband comes from the words:

house+band thus: husband.

If your house does not have a working father, you will likely have extreme dysfunction. Thank God for work for the Fathers in the home.

That is why it is extremely important for the Father and males of a home to have gainful employment.

Agreed...I am embarrassed as well. Employers have many more options now including hiring people from third world countries for $1.00 an hour through Odesk or something similar. We should be grateful when an employer chooses to post a job here at all, let alone offers to pay for the writing sample. If you see a job you like-apply. If you don't like the wording of it or something seems off to you then don't apply but please don't ruin things for the rest of us by scaring off employers or making us look bad. We should be welcoming employers with open arms and showing our professionalism and graciousness towards them for considering this board to post the job on. I have enough drama in life without needing to read about it on the WAHM boards as well.

It makes it difficult for anyone associated with this forum to be taken seriously as a professional. That's why the market for work at home jobs is flooded with menial contract "jobs" that pay like $0.03 an hour.

That really isn't helping. Seriously. It's embarrassing and you're making us all look bad.

If you have some kind of issue with the person who posted these jobs, hash it out via PM. Otherwise, we really only need to know about it if the job is not legitimate.
I share your feelings. Thank you for saying something.
