Hello All...
I have been fortunate enough to have received offers from Sutherland@Home and from Cloud 10. I have received my on boarding paperwork from both companies and I need to get it submitted in the very near future, however, I am very undecided. Obviously, Cloud10 has a required Non-Compete Agreement, which would limit me from accepting employment elsewhere while working for them, however, that hasn't been enough to change my mind about them. I was hoping that perhaps some of you would have more insight on one or both of the companies, and be able to give me some advice. I am most concerned with the companies' reputations to pay their employees, the volume of work they have (I can't afford to have my shifts cut), and in general what to expect from them. Any feedback would be very much appreciated, as I really need to make a decision soon. Thanks! |

Thank you Aalexander and MsTrina80!
Just an update on things.... I received a package today filled with an information packet, software CD and an FAQ sheet. It appears that Sutherland ALSO requires a Non Compete Agreement to be signed. My head is REALLY spinning now and the clock is ticking on how little time I have to make a decision and get forms completed and returned! |

Make sure you look for any delineating term ie. specific software, specific competitors, all others. A lot of companies will scare you with the non-compete clause but just make sure they put into very plain terms what you will be doing and what they are offering. Companies can be very vague with their terms and want to cover all. Unless they state their product or others that offer their unique services you are good to go. If there is no competition then go for it. Please understand most non-compete clauses are so open that any regulation is not substantial. Best just to use common sense and if 2 jobs sound similar then do some research and ask.

Thanks, mas8251!
The Sutherland non compete does reference 3 specific companies and then states "...or other call centers." The Cloud 10 one is filled with a lot more legal mumbo jumbo, however, seems to encompass other call centers and any company which would be considered a direct competitor. During the interview, I was advised that the Company would do frequent checks to ensure that I am in compliance with the Agreement. Ugh...this is all making my head hurt. I want/need at WAH job (or two if possible), but the legalities are killing me. Not to mention, not having enough info on both companies, to ensure that I am guaranteed to work the hours I have been informed of and be paid for my time. |

This has always been one of my big questions. If you are working for a medical software company how would they know if you were working for another company. Are they going to call around to other call centers to check your name. Truly they can only stress for the product they are selling and vitamins and software don't compete. I don't know what either do but don't get hung up on legalism in these things. If they have time to call every call center in the nation and your information should never be given out by your current employer then understand the hype in their mind puts a control over you and then you will be a good employee. Please understand it's called control. We all need a job and if they are not open enough to understand you need more than 1 income then do you really want to work for them. But, ask yourself a question. Are they going to go to the extent of time and money to do anything. Think not..... if you are a good employee then that's all they will look for. Remember it's all about the $$$$'s

You are 100% right on all counts.
I believe the way it was explained to me, was that they would check by using the info from my background check (social security number, W-4, etc.) to see who/where else I may be working. So, they won't be calling around, but it seems that they will be doing "soft inquiries" on my credit or otherwise accessing my income information. |

It's all hype in my thoughts/experience and if you think you might have a problem then open an account in one of your kids name or whatever for each company.

So far the support that I have gotten has been wonderful, and I see that many of you have read this thread.
If anyone can offer any insight to either company, I would truly appreciate it. If you prefer, don't hesitate to PM me. Thanks a bunch! Bump! Bump! |
