Because it looks at ad as a whole. If most of it is the same wording, it'll say theres a duplicate. I've added as much as three sentences and it still said it was a duplicate. By having a bunch of random words and sentences, it makes it look like more than 50% is different, giving it a appearance of something different.

That really is interesting. I noticed the hidden text on Craigslist ads too and I always just figured there was some sinister intent, so ignored ads with the hidden messages in them!

Yeah you have to post hidden text if you are posting ads that have the same content. This will keep you from getting your ad flagged. Craigslist have software they use to flag people that are posting the samecontent over and over again.

They also have something called "Ghost Ads", this is when you think your ad has been posted but it's really not, you are the only one that can see the ad.

To learn more about craiglist system and how to beat their system visit this link - It's working for me now that I read this
Sorry - for some reason the link I posted is not working

I know that this shouldn't bother me but it really ticks me off when I see one posting a thousand times in one day. I have seen at one time 7 of the same postings back to back. and this is in the same category too, not one for "sales" and one for "admin".

Yeah I understand how your feel. I hate that too. But it's shouldn't be a problem if you post the same ad in different states. I don't see why craigslist don't allow you to post the same ad in different states, it's not being viewed by the same people.

I agree with you on the different states issue.
