Ladies, my suggestions are to apply to all possible job leads that you find, that are legit. To make sure your resume and cover letter are professional and well done...I always recommend using someone for this. Like Jenn at www.resumeasap.com and to apply to the links in this thread. Use the keywords I have listed...etc. Also www.wahm.com/jobs.html has new jobs almost everday and www.craigslist.org is a great one to go to in order to find jobs on your own. You just have to keep at it and not give up.

I keep hearing on the boards that Willow had expanded to a lot more states, I was just wondering if this could be updated in your thread for the newbies coming in & looking for places to apply. I notice that it says "fl only" next to it. Thanks.

Hi there, I actually didn't start the thread so I have no way of editing it. You can let Cheryl know by PM'ing her though

Cheryl and Nellers,

Thank you so much for all of the wonderful information you have provided. I am currently working with Cybersecretaries but I am looking for additional work. So I have contacted/applied to several companies. Hopefully I will hear something soon.

Nellers, I went to your site and WOW, what a lot of info you have. The area I checked out the most was the VA stuff as I am thinking this is the way I want to go. I have a consultation tomorrow morning with VATraining, hopefully it goes well.

Thanks again for all the great information!!Edited by: Mommio

Wendy,

Congrats! Let me know how it goes! Now please keep in mind that you don't need training to start a VA business incase you wanted to go that route. Either way, being a VA is a great business to start.

Wow!

What a great start for a newbie like me! I am a frustrated single, homeschooling mom. Have been working as a residential real estate appraiser for the past 6 years, and am soooo tired of barely making ends meet! I am on the hunt now, ready to make a change, and finding this site just might have been the best thing that could have happened for me. I do appreciate Nellers having compiled so much information into one post, and will now be wading through it all to teach myself the way of this lifestyle. Thanks so much! And, for future reference, I hope y'all will just shake your heads and smile indulgently at whatever outrageously stupid questions I manage to post as I stumble along.

Head a'spinning,

Thanks for the encouragement Nell. It's the "having my own business" part that scares me, not the actual working part - 'cuz I know that stuff. I just have no clue what I need to do on the business end of things.

Cover letter and Resume info

The importance of an excellent cover letter and resume when applying to a job is more then I can stress. You are up against hundreds, if not thousands of other applicants for the same job. You need to stand out from the crowd.

I paid to have someone to my cover letter and resume but if you don’t have the money for one, but need one made take a look at these free templates: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/CT061993551033.a spx (cover letters and resumes) http://www.net-temps.com/adcgi/slooksmart.cgi?kw=free%20resu me%20template http://www.collegegrad.com/resumes/quickstart.shtml

Steer clear of scams! Here are some common scams to stay away from…

Envelope Stuffing

Chain Letters

Typing "Jobs" … great article on typing jobs here http://homebiztools.com/typists.htm

Need to check a company out here are some great resources:

•The Better Business Bureau http://www.bbb.org/
•Web &%$ured ("Watch List" to see complaints on companies) http://www.web&%$ured.com/
•The Federal Trade Commission's Consumer Response Center http://www.ftc.gov/

If you ever need one on one help with finding a job please contact me anytime. You can find my contact information at www.mommysplace.net/nell_taliercio.html

---> I also realize that not everyone has found my website yet (that's why I posted the above information...even though it's on my site I realize that more people come here) so I am going to post all the job leads I have on my website here too. These I have found in my 4+ years online and hope they help somebody find a job.
