Default I liked the old site better (continued)

Sorry I didn't even have time to get back to the original post that I had posted on this...when I had time to get back to it a few days later and found others responded it was "closed". Not sure why...all this is, are peoples opinions.

Anyway all I was saying when I had posted this was that, I had really truly liked the old site better because the feel and look of the original site really reflected that a True "working at home Mom" owned this site and went through the same issues and stuff as everyone else did, and this made you feel very welcome here and comfortable...which came from having her picture here on the site, the logo etc....you could just tell and feel that it was a real working at home type Mom that put this site together, which is why I was attracted to come here in the first place...

I was not aware she sold it...until I read in that last post. Which now I see why it was changed I guess...it now looks and feels too I don't know..."generic"? corporate? Cheryl definitely put her personality into this site...when it was hers.

I hope the site continues in the same spirit and same people...but maybe the new owners will take some of our input into consideration....

I now can see why the old saying goes, "if something isn't broke, don't fix it"....good luck everyone...dano

I'll guess the thread was locked because Cheryl's rules are still in force - If you have a problem with how the board is run email or PM the Admin, don't post it on the boards.

I'll also guess that from a SEO perspective the old format was broken, this format is more SEO friendly and more traffic, keywords, selling ad space are a big reason this board exists.

You mis-read my post. I don't have any problems with the board, just my opinion that the old design had a much friendlier look and feel, just an observation...also, being a QA Analyst and site Developer myself, you don't have to dump a whole site to make it SEO, just update the code and content.

And if you have a site, you usually welcome some feedback..thats all ..... thanks.

There was nothing wrong with the last post that you made on this issue. That's not the reason the thread was locked. It turned into much MORE than just an opinion of the new format/aesthetics. That's why I locked it. And before I locked it, I gave direction on what to do if you have feedback specifically regarding the look/feel/aesthetics of the board, and that was:

Lastly, if you have issues with respect to the aesthetics of the board, please contact user wahmib because there is nothing I can do to change it.
It has been my experience that Toi (wahmib) is very, very welcoming on issues surrounding user experience here, so I would suggest PM'ing her. (However, if a member does make a suggestion and a change is not implemented surrounding that suggestion, then there has to be a reason for it, IMHO.)

HTH,

Jennifer

Still at the end of the day, its just people's personal opinions, nothing wrong or should be wrong with that. Thanks...

Unhappy User Friendliness??

I'm not finding the new design and set up user friendly at all. For example, I need to change the contact email on my account. I have been perusing the site for 10 minutes now and have found nothing. A search for an editing tool turns up nothing. The old site was so much better. It had a more homey and family friendly appeal and was SO much easier to navigate. I agree with the other poster who said that the site is now too "corporate" looking. I'll stay on because I like the idea behind it. But I definitely will not enjoy it as much.

Vbulletin does take a bit to get used to. I played around in the UserCP when we first switched back in July to become more familiar with the setup and it took me a bit.

To change your email address, go to your UserCp/Your Profile/Edit Details. The very first option is to edit password and/or email address.

If you want to change your editor, go to UserCp/Settings & Options/Edit Options and scroll clear to the bottom. You can change from the Basic Editor to Enhanced Interface.

HTH!
