Default Quicktate Questions from a newbie

Actually, I'm not even a newbie yet. I want to apply for Quicktate, but have some questions that aren't answered on their website. By the way, if these have already been answered in another thread, please let me know and I'll check it out! TIA!

1. Is there special software/equipment that I would need to buy, like a foot pedal or headset? I have Firefox installed, Yahoo Messenger, and Express Scribe (though I don't know if I'd need that).

2. If there isn't any type of software needed, do you just listen and type? Is there any kind of playback hotkeys (like Express Scribe)? I type about 70 wpm, but I'm thinking I would need some kind of playback/rewind button.

3. Do you have to provide Quicktate with your schedule, or do you just logon whenever?

4. Are "jobs" sent to individuals or do they send them to everyone, and it's a first-come first-serve kind of thing?

Thanks again in advance for your advice and answers!

Hi...

1. Nope, no special software/equipment is needed. I do use my headset though.

2. Unfortunately, there aren't any hotkeys that I know of--just the slider bar. I soooo wish you could use a pedal/hotkeys.

3. You basically work when you want unless they have changed it.

4. It's pretty much a pool and whoever is available gets the "next" job. They do state that typists who are faster with better accuracy will get jobs first though.

Good luck to you Panda13! I have just sent in the application as well. The only question I have so far is on the yahoo format, just not finding anything that describes what that format is.

Here's to hoping you get a quick & positive response!
