Default Turkey Day!

I cooked one that I made a Rosemary/Lemon marinade for and kept drenching it while it cooked and it was fabulous!

of course my husband tried the "frying" thing once and we almost lost our garage! lol

I've known some family members who have done the fried turkey successfully.

Question Turducken?

My sister wants my mom to prepare a turducken for thanksgiving. My mom thinks its too much work especially since she is the one doing it. Is it worth the effort?

Can you buy it already put together and oven ready?

I only messed up my turkey twice. Once i accidently left the plastic bag filled with parts INSIDE while it was in the oven. The other time I didn't defrost my Turkey and it took all day
!!

Other then that they come out pretty good. I always bake it, baste it and usually stuff it with a onion or apple.

Okay, this might sound nuts to some, but it works! I've been doing my turkey this way for 10 years.

Sprinkle the turkey lightly with some butter, garlic and paprika (any other seasoning you prefer). Put in the pan and add chicken broth and soy sauce (you can also opt for water instead). I also stuff it with onions and garlic that I later discard.

Cook on 275 for five hours. After the five hours, remove the turkey and gently cover it with a couple layers of tin foil. After that add a few layers of newspaper so its completely covering the turkey and tray. Lastly, I add a towel on top. Let it sit for 4 to 5 hours.

Again, I know it sounds crazy but the turkey is delicious! And the good thing is, if you put it up early, you free up the oven sooner to bake other things. Enjoy!

Default Hate to admit it....

I've only cooked a big turkey once and it was very dramatic to me. It looked like I was cooking a dog. That was enough drama for me!!! I stick to the smaller birds and let others do the turkey cooking !
