I am thankful for safety through the massive flash floods we just had here yesterday, that even though my sister had to be evacuated & the end of the street one of my son's live in was washed away, all is well & all are safe to-day.
The school up the road is still flooded & the school kids are jumping up & down with glee! Another day off school. Regards, Mary

So thankful that I serve a God who is bigger than me and all my circumstances. I'm thankful for the gift of life and the life of my daughter. I'm thankful for her smile, her laugh, my husband's gaze, my mom's advice and best friend's listening ears.
I'm thankful for the encouragers that have come into my life in many different ways to move me forward towards being successful as a mom and an entrepreneur. Ah, feels so good to share it! |

That's horrible! I have been volunteering at my local food bank for a while now and I had never heard that statistic (25% of elderly obtain their protein from pet food), though I don't doubt it. I am going to look into it further and see if I can generate more canned meat donations. So, I guess that I am thankful that I read your post. I'm also thankful for my family. Edited by: Jenn79 |

Hi Jenn 79,
I read those stats recently regarding the financial crunch in USA but can not vouch for them. I would not doubt it for one instant though, as a lot of oldies become VERY emotionally depressed & don't realize it, so they become focused on survival only & the cans of pet food are big & available everywhere. The fact that so many oldies do eat tinned pet food makes me shudder too. I am very grateful that "there but for the grace of God, go I" A suggestion for you, you tender hearted sweetie...our local TV stations promoted a great program last year when it was shown our Aussie oldies were eating pet food too. They started "Adopt a pensioner" program, where people gave money or food to someone close nearby, through a specially set up organization (for protection of the oldies from scammers & theives etc) Last week I was in the supermarket & an old old lady with a walking frame was having a hard time with the checkout chick regarding not having enough money on her to pay for her groceries. She wanted to waddle around the corner to her bank & bring back the extra money, but the checkout girl didn't understand the old lady & was causing her stress. There were a lot of people in the lines around her & a young mum of about 27yrs, who was opposite her just gave the old lady $20 & went on with her business in the next aisle. We all burst into tears as we all had leaned forwards to see what the hold up in moving us along was. It was a beautiful moment & still touches me now. I am thankful to witness such kindness even from where I was, 10 people down the line...but we all cried! Regards, Mary

I'm thankful for my wonderful family, our health, the food we have, and wow...there just may be too many to name! There are so many things that we have and take for granted - so many others don' t have such things. Usually we don't realize it until these things are stripped away from us. Live life to the fullest and appreciate the people in your life - and thats that! lol

My beautiful daughter. They told me I could not have children, then at 33 I got pregnant and they said it must be a tubal pregnancy as my tubes were completely blocked, it wasn't. Then when she was born, the cord was wrapped around her throat, she was born dead, she came back and now she is 17 and absolutely beautiful and healthy. Thank you God for this beautiful gift.
