This is another of my unscientific polls. I have been noticing a pattern amongst the readers I know. I was wondering about you lovely people

Feel free to comment please!

Too bad you can't select more than one. Please select at least one. And if you are comfortable in the comments add the others that pertain to you.

i also used to have bulbs bust but i have since changed over to the new floecent bulbs and have had no problems, but me and radios do NOT mix.. i can even enter a store that has a radio on, and it goes out of wack. lol really annoys me as i love listening to the radio in my kitchen or in my bed, but i cant. and on my car radio i can only get the most local stations, even thoughmy daughter swears she can get them all when i am not around.. and only on FM. no AM talk shows for me, its just all static.

and i am a smoker soon to be ex smoker this year.

Good for you, Mistress Jade

Sadly, I used to smoke a little when I was younger (and stressed out at work) -- it was an awful thing for me and I can't believe I ever did it. My mom was a lifelong smoker and she recently passed away because of it.

I tend to sleep between five and six hours.... but sometimes less than five when I'm hurting (old injury).

I have always craved salty things more than sweet things since I was a kid.

On lightbulb exploding on me in a life time was quite enough. (Explode explode-- glass shatter and everything) -- no I'm nervous to change bulbs! LOL!

I use TV or radio to "reset"... and to keep me company when it gets too quiet. --But not to quiet my thoughts.

I'm a current smoker (tried hypnotherapy twice, couldn't hypnotize me), have several light bulbs blow up a month, which really irritates me, as we've bought the new, energy efficient, won't die for five years kind, argh! I do tend to crave salt, though my blood pressure doesn't reflect it, lol...and I have to have the tv, mp3 player, or some noise around me at all times, else uh..it wouldn't be pretty, lol!

Darn! You are right! noted for next time, thank you

Thank you all for participating.

I would like to share my uneducated theory as to why we all have this in common. Again, I am not basing it on any scientific "finds" or "theories." And nor am I suggesting that this true for all psychics. This simply my observation. And would love to see what you think

Why do we smoke?

Many people have expressed shocked when I used to smoke. It is not a “new agey” thing to do, it is as shocking as doctors who smoke, as we “know better” about needing to take care of our physical temple so to speak.

I have read, and it is true for most readers I know, that the majority of psychics suffered child abuse or a traumatic experience hence enhancing psychic sensibility. And smoking is simply a coping mechanism.

Sleeping less than 5 hours

Others have said to me, I wish I could sleep more but the spirits will not let me. And others, like myself, have an interesting relationship with the night, that is when we feel more alive and an acute sense of oneness with the universe that make us restless.

Light bulbs exploding

I did not experience this phenomenon until I started reading full time at home. My ex husband is not amuse, as I have him come over and change them for us. I too am afraid it will explode in my hands - or that I get shocked. There has been an “unusual spike” in my energy bill and the energy company can’t explain it. The other night, I simply glanced down the hall into the kitchen, and with a sizzle and a pop, the light bulb burst. That one scared me, because I saw a shadow float across the room right before the bulb burst.

Preferring salty foods to sweet foods.

I have read, and again true for all the readers I know, that psychics are more prone to suffer allergies and episodes of vertigo. And perhaps that is why we tend to crave salty foods as we can taste it, and it promotes a grounding feeling. It is known that some people eat sweets to escape, we have no need to escape lol, as we are looking for ways to be plugged in to this world.

Need for external stimuli to quite or still thoughts

Many tune in to music or back ground noise to tune out spirits and other people’s thoughts. The minute I get into my car or home I turn on the radio or the tv. I have a very active mind. I am always thinking of my characters, projects and future plans and I can cope with allthat lol. What I can not cope with other peoples’ thoughts or hearing the stuff we hear with our psychic ears. I had one friend ask, “Don’t you ever desire silence, to just relax in a quite place?” Heck no! Silence is the loudest thing I could listen to … the ringing in my ears!
What are your thoughts?

Wow -- thanks for all that, Threestars -- very interesting stuff.

I *DO* know a couple of other psychics who were abused as kids or who had traumatic home-lives growing up ..... but I'm not sure I would say that most psychics are abused. That doesn't fit with what I've seen. - Then again, it is my observation that a lot of people who experience the "paranormal" are those who have had a lot of intensity (of varying degrees) in one form or another their formative years.

Light bulbs exploding is one I've heard of through the years too -- also watches stopping, other electric interference. - My own crack theory is that maybe it happens because psychic-energy or other paranormal energetic phenomenon may occasionally interfere with (or draw from) the electromagnetic component of the kind of electrical flow that we use in our homes. --- But, just to be on the safe side -- you might have an electrician come to your house and make sure that you don't have a potentially dangerous situation with your wiring! -- A former co-worker had a similar thing with his lights and ended up having an electrical fire.

That's interesting about salty foods -- and makes sense. And I suffered from allergies and dizziness as a child.

-As for the radio -- that makes sense too. I can tune out psychic information and empathetic "vibes" at will -- I do not always tap into thoughts and the like. - But my own mental chatter and thinking is pretty constant. I'm always thinking -- I don't even know what people mean when they say they aren't thinking of *anything* --- I'm thinking of like seven things at once!My memory is abnormally acute too --yet some things I can't keep at all... like what DVD's I own. As a kid I had a strange phenomenon with my visual and hearing perception that was tested. I had photographic memory and I could also hear two simultaneous speaking voices and understand both. You're brain is really not supposed to do that -- but my wires were a bit wonky and I could. I believe this helped me be a better musician. -- And speaking of music -- I hear music all the time. --Not an auditory sensation (hearing it literally) -- but I have music in my mind almost 24/7
My mind has quieted as I've aged -- and I no longer have perfect photographic memory nor can I hear two or three things simultaneously without losing track of one or the other (like you're supposed to!) .... but I can still "overhear" things that just floor people!!!

This is really interesting.
I'm afraid I'm a smoker still and probably smoke way too much when stressed. I rarely if ever sleep more than 4 hours, love salty stuff (don't like sugar or chocolate) and constantly have TV or radio in background even if I'm not paying attention. I never realised that this might have something to do with the psychic stuff so it's fascinating to hear of others like this - I thought I was just a bit weird lol.
As for lightbulbs they used to go all the time until I got the energy saver kind which seem to be lasting ok.

There's another couple of things that happen to me and I wonder if this has been your experience too or if it's just me being clumsy.

Firstly I cannot seem to walk through an entrance without a door handle seeming to grab me by the sleeve and drag me back. I've pulled so many blouse and cardigan sleeves to bits like that it's crazy. I even say "oh get off me". Psychic phenomenon or am I just the right height to walk into door handles lol. The other thing involves the behaviour of coat hangers in dress shops which is very embarrassing. I just have to look in the general direction of some garments or other and one of them will fall on the floor.

On a more serious note, I really would like to sleep more than 4/5 hours out of 24

Luv
Karen

PS: Does anybody else still sleep with a light on at night?
