I've been lurking these boards for a while, and don't have many posts, but I wah thru kfc, quicktate, and callgraph. It's starting to get impossible with my 2-year-old autistic twin girls and if you pray, please put Serena and Sophia in your prayers. They have 3 therapists that come to the home, but they don't seem to be progressing mentally, don't eat table food except chicken fingers, don't speak, don't say "mama" and they only wear size 3-6 months unless it is a pajama onesie. They are physically healthy, and being premature has not caused physical problems and they get vitamins as well as supplemental drinks along with formula. I was told by the doctor that autism doesn't mean they are unhealthy, and it is not attributed to being premature. I specifically asked for mercury free shots when they got vaccinations to prevent this, ironically! Even though...it was supposedly all hype about the vaccinations causing autism. It's apparently genetic and not environmental.
They scream so much and climb on windowsills/counters (use toys, and each other if I take toys away) that I can't work unless they are asleep, which is late at night and no work on kfc or quicktate, and I have no furniture because they climb on it and get hurt, tear it apart (couch is ruined), bite table legs, etc. They bang their heads against doors and there's is knocked off the hinge and has a hole in it. I haven't even cared about brushing my hair lately because I'm so stressed. Anyone else have autistic girls? I don't have any other mom that understands that I can talk to, and that would be wonderful. Thanks for reading!

Krystal,
Go to mamasource.com and register there. There are a lot of moms with special needs children there. Also, get yourself registered on babystepsforum.com. There is a particular place there dedicated to developmental delays. You will soon not be feeling so alone. All my best. Elizabeth |

Autism is so bad because so little is known about it (cause/cure). Maybe you can find a nice community here: Autism-PDD Message Boards
It seems like more and more children are diagnosed with autism... I will let the rest of the community pray for your children and I will take the time to pray for you, because I am sure you need spiritual support too as you go through this...

I am a mom of an autistic four year old. I have known since he was two but it took over a year to get a diagnosis. We are still getting words out.www.taca.com is an excellent resource for a cure. I just recently read Jenny McArthey's book Louder Than Words. It can be so lonely and frustrating being a mother of an autistic child. I will definitely keep you in my prayers. I will pm you my number and my email address
God Bless You Brandy |

The doctor was shocked to see that the number one ingredient was themerosal which contains mercury. There does appear to be a genetic predisposition to being injured by the inoculations, though I haven't read up on this in several years. At the time, I was hearing from parents how their perfectly normal child was fine before the shots, but immediately thereafter contracted autism. |

This is tough. I have a special needs daughter who is 10. She has Down syndrome with some autistic tendencies. (She stims all the time if you are familiar with that one.) Also, her language is very delayed.
I hope you live in an area that provides respite/habiltation. I have someone come into my house each week to work my with my daughter. It helps so much and gives me a break so when I am watching my daughter I have more patience since I haven't had to hear all the yelling and screaming all day. (I have 4 kids so it also gives me time with my other kids.) Your twins are young. Two is a tough age. It gets better and better each year. Really! Take it day by day and see if your state offers assistance. It is NOT based on income in Arizona where I live. ANYBODY who qualifies is eligible. |
