Thank you. I've lost two dogs before but never suddenly so this is just such a hard transition. As you said, each will always hold a special place in my heart.

Hi Katie,

I am just now reading this post for the first time and I just wanted to again tell you that I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how it feels to loose a member of your family (even if it's a pet). If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask.

Your friend,
Krystle

Katie, I cried while I read your story. We also are animal lovers and we are always getting dogs no one wants or we find them or they seem to come to us. I've had a loving dog die in my arms and another in my husband's arms and the pain is heartwrenching. They were both quite old and it was expected but it's never easy. We've only had one that we had to put down and that to me is the most difficult.

They truly are members of the family. We still have 3 dogs that we love and someday we'll go through the loss, too.
But my consolation is that they are in a better place and we'll see them again some day. I believe that Dogs Do Go To Heaven.
I am praying that your grief eases soon and that the happy memories replace the sad ones.
Blessings,
Sue

Sue, thank you so much for your kind and comforting words. The loss will always be hard, expected or not I'm still imagining him where he'd be throughout the day but just trying to be strong for my daughter and the other cats.

Yes, you'll "see" him often. I still see our dearly departed dogs. I use their names in my passwords sometimes And I look at pictures and remember. But our new pets and our family help us to move on and enjoy life. You will be able to smile again. Take care of yourself and continue to appreciate what we have now and in the future while still remembering the past.

I am sorry to hear about that. I hate hearing stories like this but it's good you were a great parent for it and took care of it so well.

Thanks so much. It has been almost two months and I still cannot believe he's gone. My three year old still talks about him all the time. Time definitey helps but not enough time has passed yet!
