Default Shampoo for Dry skin

I have 2 puggles 1 has great skin the other has really dry skin. Do use any special shampoo? I am going to take him to the vet and see what they recommend. I use a special shampoo I ordered from 1800 pet meds but is not working very well He also has really bas allergies (he takes medicine daily for that as well) poor guy (lol!)

Default pets dry skin

I have a german shepherd who has awful skin certain times of the year. My hubby was at Pet Smart and there was a Vet there buying his own dog food and hubby and him got to talking. He suggested Authority dog food because it has the Omega 3 & Omega 6 oils in.

We didn't notice at first how well it worked but then we ran out and bought cheaper food the one month and in a months time he started getting bad dry skin already. So now we just use that dog food. He still will get dry sky on and off but it keeps it under control. I also found most of the shampoo's never worked on him. I'm still not sure what to do in that case.

My vet said to use liquid fish oil. Put a few drops on their food. You can get it at a health food store.

Shampoo with Oatmeal always helps mine. She has the worst skin allergies and bless her heart I feel so bad for her. i also use the Oatmeal conditioner and I leave it on for 5-10 minutes depending on how long she will let me and that seems to help as well. Baby Bath products also help because they are not as strong as other products, that's what I use on my Guinea Pig and he smells so good! They say not to bathe them regularly but he gets one at least once a week because he likes to be clean too!!

I just rescued a dog this summer that came to me with real dry skin and was constantly itching. I tried tons of different shampoos but what both the Rescue workers and the Vet said, was similar to what the vet said above.

Although I was not told to limit to omega oil, but add eggs, fat and oils to his meals (don't worry not going overboard) and I haven't seen him itching in quite awhile.

So take a stab at the inside out method, it worked for us
