I also enjoy cats which I have 2 of them now. I think everyone should have a pet (cat or a dog). You don't need to think just get them and leave with them. I am also leaving with 2 cats and its very lovable to have pet in your life.

If you really want to get a dog then dont over-analyze anything. I agree with the idea of getting the first one that you see. In the end its still up to you if your relationship with the dog will work out. Good luck on that!

I have a dog that I adopted after seeing an ad about her on Craigslist. I have had her for six years now.
She is a great dog and I adore her. She is a Keeshond/Bernese Mountain Dog cross. Before I adopted her, I had Lab mix, also via Craigslist. I got her at age one. She lived to be 13. I adored her too. Before I adopted her, I rescued a Shepard mix. I found him on the street in a major city and I could not pass him up. I took him to a local Vet. She kept him for three days, nursed him to good enough health that he could go home with me. I had him for 13 years before he died at age 14. The fact is, the Craigslist dogs (in my case) were "pre-shelter" dogs. The owners could not keep the dogs. If advertising in Craigslist had not worked for them, the dogs would have been taken to a shelter. I agree that you can't trust everyone that advertises on Craigslist. I'd feel better if the dogs had run the ads themselves...but that's unlikely! Bottom line...whenever you are ready to adopt, you will be able to find a dog that is ready to love you. I suggest you decide some basic issues...big dog, small dog, high energy or calm, male or female (if you care), etc. When you're ready, find a dog that needs a home, take him home and commit to giving him/her a good life...then keep your promise. Here's wishing you all the best... |

We don't have dogs but my BIL. He's dog named Gary and he's so cute. I was thinking of raising a dog and my options would be Labrador or a Dalmatian. Which is which?

If you dont want a purebed then I suggest checking your local shelter. Plenty of dogs that need a home there.

I have a dog, Cockapoo, named Nacho housed in NYC. My n-laws have not been the best host to Nacho and he really needs a great home. Contact me or pass the info onto someone that really loves dogs and can provide extra love to him.

We just got a new puppy and I've been watching Cesar Millan's Mastering Leadership Series on YouTube. Great tips in Vol. 3 on choosing the right dog for you. I highly recommend watching the whole thing. Amazing tips!

Dogs 101 or puppies 101 is a great website to go to. I used to have two dogs- puppies. Dogs are very good company to have. I wouldn't mind having another one by my side.

I have had issues finding dogs on CL. I adopted my last 2 dogs and its the best way to go. You know what you are getting! No hassle or scams like you find on CL so often.
