I was just wondering if anyone is selling on Ebay fulltime. Or is everyone doing it as a parttime job?

Hi fussypotato! I have been on Ebay for about 6 years and with me, I go through periods of listing nothing and times when I have listed 20 or so items per day. It depends on what is going on in my life

In the beginning I sold antiques, bead/trim/fabric/craft items, kid's clothing.....my house is SO cluttered, I was just trying to clean out my closets.

Then I began going to estate sales and getting more serious. A little over a year ago, I opened a store and began selling my custom switchplates. I usually get 2or so orders per week for people re-decorating a room, so those are larger custom orders, but also get lots of single plates sold. I still use Ebay as a way to de-clutter as well! I will be actually closing my store in the next couple of months to focus more on other things. But...I'll probably always sell now and again! It is addicting

Congrats again on your success!

Carrie

Default Where to buy merchandise for ebay?

If you have enough items you can work fulltime on ebay.

I am working my eBay store to a full time job... it takes some time to get it up and going especially when I find and store my own inventory, mostly clothing. I would love to help/answer any questions for those of you who what to make a go of this.

Ebay is tough only because the pricing and competition is so cut-throat. We have been selling on Ebay since 2006 and we still do however the profit margin is very low and the fees involved are very high. We decided that once our new ecommerce site picks up we are going to stop Ebay all together.
What we sell (Personalized Banners) are a tough sell on ebay also because there are so many people these days in the graphics business who are doing it for fun in their basement and I guess they don't look much at profits from it because they are only making a few dollars per sale.
I guess it all depends on what you are selling, how cheap you can get your product for and how much of it you can keep on hand.

I only sell on Ebay when their auction style listings are free. Otherwise, I sell on eCrater and then promote my online store through forums, Craigslist, and other classified sites.

We quit our ebay store a long time ago when they first started raising there prices which was really about 5 years ago we then focused on our ecommerce store we built and in no time we was making sales and we never had to pay none of the fees out so we could build a website and when it sold we kept 100% of the money.

Now with ebay if you work it fulltime you will not have as much time to spend on your own website so I suggest to leave the ebay store there but from here on out focus on adding new items daily to your website and in no time you will be making as much or more then you did on ebay.

If you need help setting up any type of business contact us we can do it for you no matter what type of business.

I tried to upload a couple of ebooks about selling on ebay, but the pdfs were too large. You can download them for free at Home - Free ebooks if you are interested

ebay used to be fun, like a giant garage sale (which was the point). It's gotten too corporate, full of mass produced products and dropshippers. Too bad.
