I did see that some ask for a silver or gold status number. Do you need to have one? The one site directed me to where to test to get a silver status but I was to pay 19.00 to take the test.

Going gold or silver isn't necessary, even though most MS companies will ask you if you are gold or silver certified, but it does have some perks. Most MS companies recognize it, but some still do not. One perk of having it is that you are notified of shops before non-certified people are. The test is extremely easy and it is well worth it. It is offered by the MSPA and it is $15 there is more info at http://www.mysteryshop.org/shoppers/silver.php mystery shopper for over 13 years Edited by: AAEMH |

How long does it take to hear back from Datatron? I applied with them a few days ago and haven't heard anything about being accepted. Thanks.

Another mystery shopping site is www.shopnchek.com
they are an excellent company to work for. My mom is a scheduler for them and has been for about 8 years, I would love to work as a scheduler for them but they cannot operate in my state but i do shops for them and they usually pay well.

Maritz has always been one of my favorites. I love Quest for Best too
because many of those shops are for some of my favorite steak house restaurants. It's great to get to eat out with the hubby and get reimbursed for it Cynde

Hi, I lurk on the boards, learning all the time. I was wondering how the secret shopping works? Do you have to buy something from the store when you are sent? Or can you just observe the store? And if you have to buy something, how much do you have to purchase? My money is tight, and I don't have much to put towards buying things, just to shop. if you know what I mean. Thanks! Rebecca |

Hi! It really depends on the shop! Most of the time, you are told in advance if you will need to buy something during your mystery shop (They tell you usually before you ever agree to do the shop).... As a mystery shopper, you are in complete control over which jobs you take and how much you are willing to spend out of pocket - if you can't afford to do a particular shop, there is nothing held against you if you do not sign up for it! The shop instructions will tell you how much/what you can purchase usually. Quote:

Thanks for the answer. Another question.. Is it profitable to sign up with more than one agency? Do they do a lot of "have you done an assignment for "blah blah" in the past 30 days?" and if you answer yes, do they decline you? Thanks again Rebecca |

Yes, sign up for many companies. Some of the companies will ask you if you have done another shop in that particular store before letting you take the job, but some of them don't even ask.
