Great list thank you, is there any on the list that would be recommended to sign with first. It could take you a while to get signed on with all. I signed on with Maritz first just because I recognize them as a big marketing company in St. Louis, MO and know people that work there. Also how do you get the certificates they ask for?

The first company I ever signed up with was Service Intelligence. I still do many jobs for them and they are reliable and helpful. I have seen that they offer jobs in many states.

As for the certificates, I don't have any of the certificates the various companies ask for and I still get many jobs. I have read that it is helpful to have them. If you have one you tend to be called first when jobs come up. However, I don't know how often that holds true because Buzzy even stated in a different post that she has even had certified shoppers flake on her.

Yeah...I know it must be shocking, but shoppers "flake" ALL THE TIME!

But I'll admit that the "gold" certificate did get her noticed....so, what can you do?

Hello. Thought I'd let you guys know. I am a shopper for Customer-1st. They usually pay $20 a shop. I love it and make GREAT money. The company is wonderful!! Watch out!! Some are scams and you should never pay to be a shopper!! Here is their website: www.customer-1st.com. Good Luck!!

Is there a way to know which companies operate more in one state than another? I know that may be a complex thing to find out but I was just curious!

Thanks!

Is it normal for them to ask for you social security number? I am a little wary of giving that out.

yup- as you are an independent contractor, your SS# is needed so your income can be reported to the IRS

I guess that I just am scared of having identity theft, even though my credit is so bad they probably wouldn't want it.
