I just had to add onto the info from Mom2 and give my twodollars here. LOL Yes, that means this will be long, but I've been shopping for many years and learned much of it the hard way.

This seems like a good resource to bookmark. It will take some time for me to research all of them.

Hi All!

I'm a scheduler for GfK Mystery Shopping. Before I'm able to post my first job ad, there was a note pop up that I needed to make my first post that didn't include a website link.

If anyone is interested in getting into Mystery Shopping, has questions, etc - please feel free to contact me!

I am interested in the work at home but, I haven't found anything and saw your post about the myster shopper I don't know anything about how it works and wanted to know some more about it ? Can you take your kids with you. Are there any special requirements that you need to have before you can even start.

Haylee,

The couple of times I secret shopped, there were pretty straight forward guidelines saying I'd have to be by myself, finish the transaction in X amount of time, be there at a certain time, etc.

And I don't think you need to fulfill any special requirements, just sign up at one of the sites and wait to hear back. That's what I did anyway. Let me know if you'd like info on any good companies, I've had nothing but good experiences.

EDIT: form looking at the first post in the thread, it looks like registering with the MPSA is a good idea. I didn't have to but you may want to.

Mystery shopping has caught on more than I realized. I just saw a couple of friends talking about it on their Facebook feeds! Kind of weird.

Are there any mystery shopping companies hiring people outside the US or Canada? I keep on reading about this opportunity in forums and it seems interesting but can it be done by someone like me who is based in the Philippines?

Question mystery shopping

What do you think you're trying to pull over on me and the others here?I've been mystery shopping for over six years, know people who've been doing it much longer, and I visit the different mystery shopping forums, so I am one informed cookie. The number ONE cardinal rule of mystery shopping is: NEVER PAY TO SHOP. FREE lists of shopping companies can be found at numerous shopping forums, so don't act like it's anunheard of thing. It puts you in an untrustworthy light when you make claims like that. Mystery Shop Resources and MS Freedom are only two shoppers forums that have the lists, but I have a great deal of respect for those boards and they have the most thorough FREE lists of mystery shopping companies out there. Lists I have no doubt that will give your list a run for its money.

If anyone wants to pay for your list or download it for a limited time for free, they can knock themselves out and more power to them. BUT if they want the SAME information--information composed BY shoppers FOR shoppers that is ALWAYS free--then I suggest they go to http://p216.ezboard.com/bmysteryshopresources or www.msfreedom.org and click on the Mystery Shopping Companies threads. They don't need to take my word for it. They can look for themselves and decide.

Another thing, "Survey Scout, Survey Premier, et al" are SURVEY companies and NOT mystery shopping companies. You're confusing industries and you should know better if you're legit and have had any actual dealings with mystery shopping companies. However, under Earning Opportunities at MSR, people do have listed their favorite survey companies, companies that do more than waste people's time taking endless surveys with little or no rewards offered.
I just have a question totally new to all this the site, forums, etc. hope i posted correctly. I have been getting emails from a company called Shadow Shopper, i have not really looked at the emails yet, but has anyone heard of it, any advise about it and another question, is to be a mystery shopper, you at least have to upfront the money for whatever the job is, like in a resturant or grocery store, and they once your report is submitted, etc, then your reimbursed? thank you for the answers to my questions. Is having a digital phone or camera phone essential to doing a good job or report? thanks again..
