As my ex-director told me -- "the rules are there are no rules." The organization doesn't have the time or money to track down these small-time "criminals." They are only interested in making examples of big-time violators (like eBay store owners). Otherwise there wouldn't be hundreds and hundreds of fresh products available at truly slashed prices. A lot of these products, BTW, are offered on eBay by directors who can purchase products weeks earlier than the consultants. So they buy them up to help their own bottom lines then turn around and sell them on eBay.
Your customer sounds to me as though she's afraid of her own shadow. Tell her there are no pink police patrolling the area. |

In the Old Days it used to be by the rules. People did get reported and lost their consultanship (or so I was told). Truth it, I don't think the big companies care about it as long as product gets sold to the consultant.
this is a new day and age of electronic purchasing, somehting Mary Kay was never set up for. It used to be you could get a consultant and stick with her, and know what you were getting. Now they are in and out so fast. I don't trust ebay never have. There are still some good reps in Mary Kay, but way not what it used to be. I have had a hard time getting good service so I sign up from time to time for personal use. It is a good product, and I am currently a Mary Kay consultant for personal use. I had to! Consultants not showing up at appts, not calling when you give them your name and number to sign up, on line orders taking a week to respond. etc. and this is all in this year alone! I was trained under the old school. I have to accept that thinking has changed in this world about a lot of things. When "the speed of the leader is the speed of the gang" and these "leaders" are selling early product on ebay (which I didn't want to accept or acknowledge that was what was happening). it really is a new Mary Kay day. |

I think it is up to the moderator of this forum who is an active MK rep to answer the question of the other moderator. Some of the others here such as Cecelia or Jolly could do so.
Active means different things. Selling consistently or just about to get a Mary Kay discount. |

Thanks for the help ladies!
Sounds like its ok by your company, so I will leave the post up. Have a happy (and safe) holiday season! Bonnie |

I am not really sure about exactly what the poster is doing, so I really cannot say yes it is ok or no it is not.
What I meant by my post is that there are company rules, but nobody seems to follow them too much these days with the internet to sell on. As Sparkler said, Mary Kay only goes after the big liquidators. |

no way that an average MK consultant can make as much money selling on ebay as by selling simply when she has prepaid sales to prepay an order. And that is not a fortune .. It is pocket money. And only if she skips all the hoopla of quarterly events and such.
However.. some Directors and above in a rush to get credit for production stock up on new items and then sell on ebay. Much of the other stuff on ebay is no longer on regular line or is from the consultants who are trying to liquidate what they can not return to the company on the 12 month revolving buy back policy. Since the company itself has been known to be found quilty in court of wrongdoings.. it is a twisted hallway down which we descend in this discussion. |

It has been years since I was in MK but the reps sold each other product (Or they would trade.) all the time, if they needed something now that they were out of, they would buy it from another rep as opposed to making the customer wait. it use to be OK.It really doesn't hurt MK either way because the product is being sold.......and will need to be replaced. .and that is what it is about, moving product. Actually in my area if a rep went out of business and tried selling it at a yard sale.or something.......the area reps got together and bought it all for resale........rather than devaluing the product by selling it to customers at cost or at yard sales, flea markets....ebay etc... But I haven't read the recent Policies and Procedures ........
As far as any companies cracking down on ebay, I don't know they aren't getting very far. there are tons of listings(like 50,000) for both the major companies. From what I have gathered there are buyers who buy from ex reps, and current reps, large lots then sell them. In most direct sales Policies and Procedures it says products aren't allowed to be sold on ebay so the reps that follow the rules are being hurt by the products that are. the only one I have noticed following the rules is Amway (Quixtar) I once a few years ago kept trying to get an Artistry eye pencil on ebay and never could find one on ebay and actually saw NONE of their products being sold that way. They do have great cosmetics though high priced.Ihaven't looked lately though but it is too bad the other companies can't police as well. it does make it hard on direct sales reps to compete with the mass ebay listings, but then I have done some looking and I see packaging that was from a lot of years ago.......being sold in lots. So it has probably passed it's shelf life. but there are current items too soooo go figure. But I am sure some buyers are unaware of the old products well all in all.............not every one buys on ebay and even the ones that do-- they won't get the customer service they get from an active rep. or always the latest product. |
