Smile Just signed up...questions? ideas?

I just signed up with Mary Kay, and so far I only have one order. I have been giving out business cards, brochures, and thought about advertising online. It's getting cold out now to be advertising, so any ideas on how can I still make money? I want to also start team building, any ideas?

Go to the weekly meetings to meet other reps and hear what their ideas are. Also hold an open house and invite everyone you know. If your house is to small maybe a friend or relative will host it at their house and could receive free products in return.
I am no longer in Mary Kay but this is what I did when I first got going and it worked out for me. Good Luck!

Your Sales Director definitely could help you. Make an attempt to go to as much training as possible. The best way to make money is by skincare parties and booking from the booking(s). You have to work hard and smart in this business to keep going. You can do it!!

Open houses are traditionally pushed this time of year (beginning in October) to showcase the Christmas collections. Right now, it's just too late in the season to do that; and frankly all you are going to hear now is excuses why nobody can attend. It's just a busy time for everyone. Also, you need stock to show. How do you know what to order? I wouldn't recommend purchasing the inventory to hold an open house b/c the product line is going to be changing and you will be stuck with a ton of unsellable stuff.

As for making money -- you need to build teams and hope the team members purchase (and keep) tons of inventory. THAT is truly the only thing that accelerates YOUR bottom line.

This quote sort of begs the question -- in my mind, anyway -- if this worked out for you, why are you no longer in Mary Kay??

RE Building a Team. Sometimes building a team actually nets you LESS money in the long run. Unless you are the type of person that would be very very assertive in talking new consultants into having a great big beginning order. (that is where the money comes from.. orders of new consultants as per NSD Lisa M. )
It takes time to train a consultant ..., it diminishes your profit from them if they were customers ( 4 % versus 50 %) . And it is just plain stressful. Directors are encouraged by NSDs to promote team building in order to build up wholesale orders for the NSDs unit . that is what their commish is based upon.
thaty being said.. if you are the type and have the stomach for it and the energy and the lack of distaste of rejection.. go for it.

To make some cash.. schdule some parties withing a one week period. Be prepared for several to cancel so schedult lots of them. Show what is in your case. Get a prepayment for everything.. do ot slit your family's budgetary throat by prepaying yourself. If youmanage to sell 500 dollars or so you will have enough to make a nice beginning order of about 200 Wholesale and also stick some into your fund for future orders. Be sure to take out your paycheck! .. do not sink it all into reorders of product or what is the use ? In other wors.. set aside half for expenses plus orders.. and keep it separte.. and take half for yourself. Do not pay for any meetings or training materials or anything until you have a jingle in your jeans pocket

If you must know why it was because I had to take in my four year old nephew and rehabilitate him from the neglect of his drug addict mother. You must not assume that all who leave just failed to make it. It is a good company and with the right help and connections people can do well.

In the spirit of the holiday season, I'll ignore the snippiness of your reply. I just asked an innocent question; you could have answered that you had personal reasons. I did NOT assume you failed to "make it." It just befuddles me that I've met many, many women through the years that have sung the high praises of this being the best thing since sliced bread (even several supposedly-successful directors) that suddenly pulled the plug and disappeared! It just makes me wonder why if this is so great, why do they quit for something "better."

What I hear is "I" couldn't make it work. Most of these women seem to feel they are the only one who couldn't make "Mary Kay work". I can't tell you how many times I have heard this. i do my best to tell them, it's not just them, it's the system.

I am a consultant at present, I love the product, and like so much of Mary Kay but for successful longevity, I know very few. Yes, they are there.

What is successful?

Is it hanging in there, still being a consultant? Is it making a profit?

Or is it just enjoying being a consultant, getting your product as a personal use consultant, not trying to sell or make a profit, giving it as gifts?

Each to his own.
