I've had the earrings, "High Strung" on back order for a customer who ordered them at a party 2 months ago. I'm thinking it's about time I gave her a refund. Lia Sophia keeps changing the ship date and I don't put stock into any ship dates now. What do you all think? Should I offer a refund? Maybe toss in a pair of earrings free.....from my "collectible box"?

No you shouldn't offer a refund. The company should have already send your customer a letter offering her the option of continuing to wait for the item to be available or a jewelry premium to use on something else. I'm not sure, but a refund may also be an option. The guarantee is with the company not you....

What I do anytime there is a back order, is write the customer a note. Tell them Kim I just want to let you know that your necklace is back ordered. No one hates back orders more than me and I will make sure that I keep you informed on the status of your necklace.
To keep my reputation with the customer I say. I cant control the process with the jewelry makers but I feel bad for you and want to make it right. Here is a $10 gift certificate for your next purchase. I do this with all my back orders. |

Thank you for the recommendations. I definitely like the gift certificate suggestion. Will also refrain from giving jewelry in lieu of a back ordered item.
