I am new to filing taxes as an independent contractor and wanted to know if I would still need to file even though I did'nt make $600 and won't receive a 1099 from 2011?
I have been told not to file unless I receive a 1099 and also that I must report earnings no matter how much I made, so any input from long term contractors would be appreciated. Thanks!! |

You must file even if you don't make $600 for the company. You have to account for all income earned during the tax year. This is what I was told for my state of Ohio.

In Alabama a couple years back I was told I didn't not have to file if I made under the 600.
