Could it be Slap Cheek or Scarlet Fever?

Two of my kids had scarlett fever this year. The rash sort of looks like that. It started near their private parts and spread. The kids didn't seem sick at all, just the rash part.

I would try to get to the doctor sooner than later.

I didn't read through all the threads so sorry in advance if it was already mentioned. I have to go to work early this morning and only had a minute.

It looks too dense for chicken pox, but being that your child is one, it looks more like Rosiolla (sp). Did he/she have a fever recently? This is common for babies one year or younger.

Call the doctor and more than likely they can tell you over the phone.

Let us know~

I was just thinking about this. Did you find out what it was?

Looks like Scarlett Fever to me. My son had it when he was 2. No big worries though!

Yep, thank you for asking.I found out what it was. We've been to thedoctor twice and will be going to a pediatric dermatologist to confirm. The rash is stillon her ribs and is now on the insides of her arms. It will probably be there for quite some time because it can last up to 14 weeks. There's no treatment for it, it just has to run its course. It's called "unilateral laterothoracic exanthem" and there isn't a whole lot of info on it that I can find.

Poor little thing. How is she doing with it?

How would she have gotten it?

She's doing fine. It's itchy, especially when she's hot. And it's been in the 90's all week!

It's viral, but the ped said it isn't contageous. That's all I know. We go to the derm on May 2. Hopefully, she will have more info.

Never heard of that one before. Glad she's doing fine, and I hope it runs it's course quickly. Thanks for letting us know!
