Hello all,
I just joined last night and spent quite a bit of time reading through the forums. I have no idea where to begin, other than to stay away from anything asking for my financial information, (groan - I've been recently had).
I have some experience as a legal secretary and then in a few other offices as a temp or for dictation specific purposes, but that was a few years ago and I don't have my own dicta-machine. I have a computer, internet, a blogspot I barely use, and a brain, (though it likes to hide upon occasion - like now).
I most recently worked the morning shift for 4.5 years at UPS, because the hours and benefits were right for me to continue my education. However, the hours and work took their toll on my health and I still don't have a degree.
I am now homeschooling my son because I don't agree with public school practices and we can't afford private. I am taking a break from working on my degree, Forensic Anthropology, to do this and require some amount of income to pay school debt and whatnot. I am loathe to work outside the home - everything I am finding in my area either conflicts with my family's schedules, or it's otherwise worth very little to my needs.
I'm certain I have some skill sets that would allow me to work at my own laptop - though I could really use some guidance, because I feel as though I'm walking through a hall of mirrors situated within an ill-lit Labyrinth.
Thank you for letting me vent a little.

Hi Sarayntrix,

There is a TON of info here. Just take your time and figure out what appeals to you. And don't be afraid to ask questions cause there's always somebody here willing to help. Best wishes on your search!

I ut joined last week and this is a good place to get information. Everyone is very nice and will give you advice if you ask. There are so many work from home jobs out there so you might want to narrow things done to what interests you ex: jewelry, candles, beauty products etc.. Good luck! I know you will figure things out

Hi Sarayntrix,

Welcome to this great place, full of resources and savvy and generous members. Your post made me chuckle--you have a great sense of humor and fun writing style. Maybe something in freelance writing might appeal to you? There are "folders" on just about any interest or skill requirement. Take your time and get to know your way around. It can seem overwhelming at first, but as you get more acquainted, the labyrinth will start to lead you in specific paths, so to speak.

Also, check into people's signatures for some great gems--leads into what they are doing that is already working for them or that they're excited about promoting. I feature a site that lists all free and legitimate work from home jobs in many categories (including Writing, Transciption, Call Center, Artistic , Tutor, Translator jobs and much more). I'm sure something will come your way that's taylor made to your requirements.

Wishing you a fun stay and success with your search and endeavors,

Annie
