Default Materials?

Hello Jewelry Ladies!
I was wondering if you would be able to share with me what type of "metal" or coating your jewelery line uses.

For example.... Last I knew, Lia Sophia has Rhodium on their items with a LT guarantee. I have a couple pieces & love how long it has lasted (6 years!!!)

With so many new lines coming in or around...I would love to learn more about what your materials are in your product! I love to shop

Ours varies from piece to piece...we have rhodium, stainless steel, 18k gold, and much more. Truly something for everyone.

Interesting - I asked this question a few months ago and couldn't get anyone to answer. Glad to see the information being provided!

Silpada Designs sells sterling silver jewelry, which is by definition has at least 92.5% silver. The other metals are required in jewelry to provide strength, since silver is a soft metal. We typically add copper, and do not use nickel in our jewelry.

In addition to sterling silver some pieces also have brass, copper, or solid gold accents for ladies who like a two-tone or gold-ton look. There is no plating on any of the jewelry, and nothing is dipped. Just like good sterling silver flatware, it will tarnish over time but can be cleaned up with a good silver polish.

We also have a lifetime guarantee against manufacturing defects. Since you don't have to worry about a coating wearing off, this warranty comes into play in the rare case that a piece breaks or a stone falls out.

Default AllieCat Jewelry

As the artistic director here at AllieCat Jewelry, I choose a variety of metals based on the projected usage and price point we need to achieve. Some of our products are sterling silver or gold filled, some are rhodium plated over brass or other metals.

We are also now selling Silver filled products. With the price of sterling so high, silver filled items are becoming quite popular. These have 100-1000 times the silver that silver plated has.

Equally important in design is the plating process. How much precious metal is used and how it is applied. That's why you see some plated products wear off in just weeks, while others last years.

With the high metals prices, the Chinese manufacturers are finding ways to cut back on metals, sometimes without telling their customers. We're fortunate in that we create our gems from scratch and even our findings are usually made domestically, but we've heard lots of sad stories.

Hi Kahne! How are you?!

To answer your question: Just Jewelry is made from many different materials.......base metals are overlaid with gold, silver, rhodium, or hematite with some receiving a glazing finish to give the appearance of aging. We use natural and manufactured stones, turquoise, glass beads, natural shell, mother of pearl, gemstones and cubic zirconia.

Stella & Dot uses mixed materials as well, depending on the design of the product, but we use .925 Sterling Silver, Gold Vermeil, Natural Gemstones, Brass, Enamel, CZ, pretty much everything, when clicking on a product on our site, it tells you what it is made of

You're right, but it took two weeks before I had more than one response, after I bumped it three times and most of the very active reps on this forum never responded. You were one of the ones who did, but I never got as much of a comprehensive look at what materials other companies are using as was posted here within 24 hours of this thread being started.

I was at a S&D party recently, and one of the guests said she had to wear sterling because she had allergies. The rep told her there were sterling pieces, but never pointed them out to her on the table or in the catalog. (What a shame - she didn't buy anything.) Are there earrings that are sterling, or is it just those adorable stamped charms?

On almost all of the earrings the ear wire or post (the part that physically goes in your ear) is Sterling Silver, the body of the earring may be brass or hematite or some other material.

The only earring that I for sure know is 100% completely Sterling Silver are our Essential Ball Studs, but I will double check to make sure I didn't miss any.

And then we have several Sterling Silver Necklaces like the Ever After, Vitality and Interlocking Cross

Red face

I am a jeweler with Fifth Avenue Collection and the main reason that attracted me to represent this company was the quality craftsmanship of their designs.

Here are some things to know:

14K gold posts in earrings
Finish is 14K gold or rhodium
Genuine semi-precious gemstones
Swarovski Crystals
AAA cubic zirconia- closest in comparison to real diamons

In additions all our jewelry is Nickel and Lead Free

Add a lifetime guarantee and excellent customer service.

Message me if you need additional information.
