I too live in a rural area, jobs are very scarce. I do not wish to commute 50 miles one way for a job to end up making gas money with the price of gasoline so high. I like the flexibility I have as well.

Well I'm a single mommy and I currently work full time out of the home and have now partnered up with a company that specializes in helping families struggling in today's economy. By year end I plan to be working full time from home. I love the fact that working from home I have unlimited income potential and I can make money around MY life and my kids' activities and most importantly...I want to help other families start enjoying their life!

Great question! I started working at home in 2008 and will NEVER go back to working outside my home unless I have too....I have to small kids so I get to be a stay at home mom as well as work full time. I live in a pretty small town and I make much more $$ then I would working outside my home plus all the savings I receive from working at home. I have worked for Carni*al cruise lines, Hom* depot chat, and as a search engine rater which I would have never had the opportunity to do working outside my home...I'm now a recruiter for Open Door Multi Services and have 100 plus agents that I have helped get a work at home job! It's awesome!!!!!! My favorite part is that I make my own schedule and don't have a "boss" over me telling me what to do and when to do it

The reason I work from home is because by the time you take a $12.00 hour paying position you actually do not bring anything home from that paycheck when you have children. I have a BA degree and plenty of work exp but with this economy no one wants to pay and everyone is downsizing.

I have no children at home. I have always had transportation.
I initially began working at home when I was laid off two jobs in a row in a very brief period of time. In my area, the only jobs I could find paid only minimum wage, and I was not willing to accept that. Now that I've been working at home for nearly a decade, I don't think I could work for someone else anymore. I work my own hours, take vacations when I want to, take breaks on my schedule (though not as many as I should), and I alone am in control of my income.

WAH is better for me because I used to spend 10 hours outside of my house due to working, plus commuting. I would spend MAYBE 2 hours with my kids before bedtime. The weekends zoomed by because they were left for getting things done that I didn't get to during the week. WAH is also better for us financially. I have three children that are daycare aged and if we had to pay for all three of them, we would be looking at a bill of at least $1000 per month. Most I ever made was $1400/mo from a job. It just didn't make sense for me to be out and about 50+ hours a week and only bring in $400 of useable income.

I love the flexibility of it all...I can work whenever is convinent for me. Right now I still have a son that is in preschool, but he starts Kindergarten this July and I'm going to continue to work from home even then. I also have a daughter that is in 3rd grade. I will be able to still get them ready and take them to school, walk them home from school as well as volunteer at the school, take them to any appointments and/or be home with them if they are sick and not have to make special arrangements, etc.
