Default Invention help and ideas

Hi, Elisha. I have done some inventing for some time now as well and I know that getting your invention out into the market can be a confusing thing. The first thing I would ask you is, is your invention a novelty item? Is it a toy, drug, plant, electronics, etc? Since some things may not require or even be worth patenting and some you can just license or trade mark. A lot of the things I have made fit into the toy/ novelty category. If it's a toy, you can search up a guy by the name of Harvey Reese. He specializes in toys and has licensed his own stuff out in the market in the past. How he works is that if you submit your idea to him (he charges a fee per submission) and if he likes it, he would do the foot work and paper work to get it licensed to a company. In turn he will sign an agreement with you that you two would split the royalties for a certain number of years (I think 2 or 3...i think) and you would get royalties from then on for as long as it sells. If you wish to go a different route, you can look up "Mike Mozart" on Youtube. He was a former toy designer but he did give a good advice for getting an idea or invention to a company. He recommends NOT going to the head of the company with your idea, instead go through the "back channels" and talk to the SALES department, since they would be a good middleman since they need new ideas and you may have a better chance doing that. One thing I will warn you is that DO NOT go through invention submission corporations or services (like InventHelp). You can go on one of the government websites and it will list MANY of the companies to beware of. I have dealt with InventHelp to only later on find out from the government website that to beware of them. Plus an oranization called "SCORE" warned me about this...By this time, it was too late. You can also check out "SCORE" for help for your invention. SCORE is an organization affiliated with the SBA that helps people start businesses for free (advice and guidance). They may not specifically deal with inventions but there are many business owners, CEO's, and people from many industries that can give you advice. For my invention, I spoke to a patent specialist, garment specialist, and one other but I forgot. They gave me some very good advice. There is a SCORE office in every state I believe. I'm in NYC so it's close by my area (Not sure if they are in Australia as well..if not, then not to worry). I hope this helps in some way. I am interested in seeing how your invention goes. Of course there are more ways to get your invention out in the market but these are just SOME of the ways.... You can also start like the Under Armor garment company and make the products in your basement and distribute it out from there to start.. well Good luck!
