We have several times. Usually they give up but sometimes the youngest still tries.

As I remember all the manipulations for relocation Christmas hiding places are useless.
Kids are the best investigators and detectives, so find such places quickly. The best variant is to keep all the presents and candies in any other places like garages and so on.

Finding hiding spots would be an adventure each year. As mentioned, they will find them if they really want to lol. So I just put a holiday sign up on my bedroom door indicating that it was that time of year to stay out of my room, and usually hid them in the closet (wrapped in a lot of bags that were very noisy if disturbed) and set up in a way where I could tell if they were handled at all.

I always let my son know that opening presents is a lot less exciting if he already knew what they were, and if he didn't try to peek he would get to open 1 present a day early. He's now 25 years old, but I still put the sign up for tradition.

This year I have been keeping everything in various boxes stashed throughout the house. Since I am now officially done wrapping I grouped each kids gifts together in their own large bags and went to stash it all in the big rubbermaid container that we normally keep the tree in and accidentally found my gift from the kids. I kept my eyes closed though!
