Welcome. It's great to exercise caution but not so great to be so cautious that almost everything is viewed as a scam. Yes there are many out there but the last thing you want is to miss out on something that could help you earn the income you need.

By the sounds of it, writing would be great for you. Visit the 'mums who write folder' and ask questions. I believe there is also a folder in that section that lists a number of companies that take on writers.

I wanted to share with you what I just shared with Kymberly in another thread. Starting a home business is not the only option for making money from home. A much better option for your situation is to land a job from a company that hires virtual workers. Some of the top job options are working in customer service (answering calls/emails from home), working as a virtual assistant for a virtual staffing company, or writing articles for a content creation company.

These companies pay you a check, and some provide benefits for working full time. Check the thread in this forum on telecommuting moms for job postings and of course check the job listings on this website. PM me if you need additional help, I'd be happy to assist you.
