Default Ok Ladies Need Some Recommendations.

So hubby and I are headed to NYC for a few weeks and I want to catch a Broadway play while we are there. Suggestions on ones you have seen or heard was good?

Default You are So Lucky!

Wow! You really can't miss with a Broadway show!! I've seen "Jersey Boys" and LOVED it!!!! But, being a "Jersey Girl" I could really relate to it...it's the story of the Four Seasons in case you didn't know. I saw "La Cage Aux Folles" years ago with a different cast and it was hilarious. I think Kelsey Grammer is in that so it should be really funny! "Phantom of the Opera" I saw twice because I was just so in love with that play!!! LOL!!! I heard "American Idiot" has gotten really good reviews and then, of course, "Wicked" is supposed to be fabulous....No matter what you see, I'm sure it will be fantastic.

That is probably one of the things I miss most about moving from NJ...missing all the Broadway shows...if you've never seen one, you don't know what you're missing!!

Hope you enjoy your trip!!

I have not been to Broadway in quite a long time, but I have a couple of friends go recently and they loved Wicked and Jersey Boys.

Enjoy. I am jealous.

I took oldest daughter this summer for her graduation present. We saw Wicked and Phantom and both were breathtaking. I was in the 2nd row for Phantom of the Opera and I was completly mesmerized by the entire thing. My daughter cried through most of Wicked. We are theatre geeks so it was so awesome. I really want to see Jersey Boys. I heard its fantastic.

Hi and good for you and hubby that you'll be taking this extended vacation trip! Sounds like fun. I'm not big on musicals, so I can't chime in about most Broadway offers, but I might recommend going a little "off Broadway" (for some really surprising plays) in addition to the big shows.

I also recommend the Metropolitan Museum along with the Guggenheim and Museum Of Modern Art. Even if you're not a big art buff, it is quite a thrill to see famous works live. And don't forget to check out Chinatown for dinner or great pastry and then stroll over to Little Italy right next door. Central Park is also a must! Brings back memories of being in art school and going to my favorite haunts. If you're into music--NYC has legendary clubs as well. I guess these are obvious suggestions, but they do bring back memories.

Wishing you and hubby the best time,

Annie

P.S. Can you still catch Woody Allen playing clarinet Monday nights at Michael's Pub? Probably not any more...but it was cool...
