Default Finding Sanity in Insane Schedules

Hi fellow single working parents. I was just curious how you find time to keep up with your businesses while keeping a crazy single parent schedule?

This week has been crazy for us all. My son had a band concert and my daughter's DARE meetings kicked off in the same week. I work both outside the home to pay the bills and my home based business to give us some extra cash. It is difficult to find the energy at the end of the day but I managed to keep up.

So I'm curious ... how do you find sanity in an insane schedule and still find time to keep your businesses rolling along?

Great advice above. My suggestion is to make a schedule and stick with it. I have a planner and everything goes into it including time with my granddaughter, son and daughter-in-law, not just work stuff. It is easier now that my son is older. However, watching first hand how a business works from little on (I would give him little jobs as an employee and pay him) he is now a successful business man himself who is now juggling his time to spend time with his daughter and doing a good job at it.

That is a really good idea to schedule the time for my business too. I do this for every other aspect of my time to be sure I'm where I am supposed to be for my day job and the kids. And before I know it, it's 11:00pm and time to go to bed to do it all over again.

Thanks for the advice I'll let you know how it works out ....

Try one of those BIG white boards. Attach it to your wall. Make it into a calendar.
Each week write who has to go where and when you schedule your business at home.
Then everyone can see at a glance how that day(and week) is going to be. It will also help you to plan your meals better and be more organized.

White boards, I love them!

Default Insane Schedules

I have to agree it is hard keeping a regular job, finding time to play with the kids, feed and bath them and then to find time to work the business is really really hard. Planning is very important but when you don't get something done you start over the next day and work at it. Eventually you will get the ball rolling.
