Look up "the deadly dozen" on a search engine. It is a good place to start if you are thinking about switching to organic food. There is a list of the 12 produce items that you should never buy non-organic. It gives you pause when you go to pick up a box of berries in the store to feed your kids.

Depending on where you live, there is a website localharvest.com that you can type your zip code into, and they will give you a list of local farms that use sustainable methods in their farming practices. You can also find out about local farmers markets. When you go to the market, ask the grower what their practices are. A lot of local small scale farmers don't use a lot of poison on their produce, and most of them love to tell you about why not. It supports your community, and fresh out of the garden produce is always so much better.

Great article......our company designed their product boxes to be completely waste free and are recycled. Kudos to all the companies that are green-minded!

Thanks for sharing!

Talking Good Article!

I think that it's good when anyone tries to go green.

Some of these companies though make it obvious that they are just doing it because it's popular, not because they care. If they really did it because they care their products wouldn't just be safer, they would be safe. I am with a company who's products are so safe you could eat them, although you wouldn't want to lol.

That is an interesting article and so relevant! I can't wait to see the full list of companies. As a mother of two, I am constantly trying to reinforce what my children are learning in school and from the educational programs that they watch. Last year, after watching some educational programs, my hubby and I decided that we needed to make some changes. After looking at the amount of trash that we put on the curb each week, we realized that this was a good place to start and got rid of the bottled water and the plastic lunch bags, etc. At first, my kids were not happy and were somewhat embarrassed when I no longer packed their snacks in bags and refused to buy juice boxes. Now, they tell their friends that they are trying to "do their part" in helping the environment and are proud that can make a difference too.

I use plant based cleaning products that are safe for the environment, kids and pets !plus candles and candle warmers that are earth conscious.

Thumbs up

It makes me feel so good about the world when I see that responsible, healthy living is in. Maybe we can turn our bad habits around and save the world before it's too late.
