Hello Ms. Llamas I have always wondered are Farmers agents captive or are they allowed to have outside business??

Hi Cornelius,

When the clients are not accepted through Farmers, then we have no other choice but to place them somewhere else. But the nice thing is that Farmers has acquired several insurance companies (Bristol West, Foremost, etc) that we can place our customers with.

It would be the same thing with the life insurance. When Farmers doesn't approve them, then we would have to use an outside company

So your saying the Farmers agents can only use carriers approved by Farmers? When going outside do you have to use Farmers approved carriers or can you contract with anyone you wish and write with them?

Thanks..

Once Farmers declines the customer, we can place that customer where we want.

Will an agent like yourself be able to provide a better rate than going online or directly to the insurance provider? I live in Indiana and have been looking at different health insurance plans mainly online but was wondering besides having a person to call, if an agent is able or knows more options than what the insurance companies web sites can sell me.
