Default How do you organize your WAH business around homeschooling?

My son is seven, so a little independent, but we do a lot of work together with our co-ops and other activities. How do you manage your time around your business and homeschooling?

My daughters schooling always comes first. While my daughter is doing her homework or work online I do my work during that time. Also, I also do a lot of my work at night or early in the morning.

For some reason it has always seem to work out, perfect. My daughter is in 3rd grade and she is very independent... so it works out for our family.

It's tough and it's different every day. We try to schedule school from 10 to 3pm. That allows them lunch too. Most of what I do is online so I can do it before school starts, at lunch time and after school. Mostly after the toddler goes to bed is when I am most productive. Not gonna lie, early mornings and late nights as well as a frew hours on Saturday. I've been homeschooling for 8 years and the kids are pretty independent now. They weren't always though. The kids help me with marketing after school too. Now that they are older, they help with some of the software needs so it' a family business.

I do a lot of jumping on and off the computer through the day, but most of my real work gets done at night. I have to save phone calls for evenings when I have backup I don't make many calls though. It can be tough! Either one of those "roles" can be a full time commitment, really.

My own school and my work tends to get done a lot at night. But my son is used to me working, and he has no problem most of the time "working" himself. He'll draw, color, or do some little activity and when our lil' robot timer goes off, I stop work and focus on him. That being said, his lessons are very short right now (he's 3) so it only takes us around 30 minutes during the morning. But school time is focused. Mostly hands on stuff of course, and may take longer or less time but it's fun!

I do work on weekends though, but it's worth it. And work takes a backseat if he asks for a walk or something of that nature. I guess I just find ways to work around his schedule.

The nice thing is in most states that if you get the work done, it doesn't matter how many hours you actually do school. I now however, there are many states that have mandatory hours to work.

I plan school first and then work inbetween during the day and then early in the morning or late (after bedtime) at night. I then try to do whatever is left on the weekends.
