What kinds of history should you be teaching each grade? Like for elementary grades you should be teaching ancient history and then middle school world and American history? Or Introduction to American history in the elementary grades and switch off and on between ancient ,world, and American history till your child graduates? I'm really confused by this. I've thought about pulling together something for elementary years and putting my child in History class at North-Star academy online (6th-12th.) They seem to have a decent program for history. Thanks!

I use My Father's World mainly for their history. I started their 5 year program when my children were in 2nd and 4th grades. I like it because it starts at the beginning (creation, first civilizations) and progresses chronologically, incorporating History, Bible, Science, Art and Music.
There are lots of good history cirriculums out there. I think going through history from beginning to current times gives a better overall understanding of where we came from and where we are going. It's just my personal preference though. Here's a link to MFW in case you want to check it out ![]() My Father's World - Homeschool and Christian School Curriculum |
