Default Husband with cancer & we have 10 kids! Prayers? Thoughts? Encouragements?

Hi, I wasn't going to post this but when I saw this topic and all the people sharing I realized that we are not alone and there are others who are going or have gone thru similar trials.

My story is that my husband and love of my life (for 35 years) has Stage IV cancer. He has had surgery recently and then wound up in the hospital for pneumonia. I have been watching him grow weaker yet still struggle to work his business and provide for his family. He has great heart, just is weak in body. We have not given up and have started some natural treatments to see if he will benefit from them.

At this point, I go through periods of relying on God, friends and family to see us thru and being in despair. I love this man so much, we have been through so much together and have grown stronger because of it.

We got involved in foster care and ended up adopting 8 kids! We had two of our own first, so that makes 10! 8 of them are still under our care and live at home, so we have the added challenge of raising our kids to be happy and well adjusted, not to mention fed!

I would love to hear from you if you have any words of encouragement or just want to share. Sometimes sharing with someone who isn't close to our situation can help us see things more clearly or in a different way.

I am really not sure what to say to make you feel better..but I will keep your family in our prayers. If you need someone to vent to or a cyber shoulder to cry on...pm me. My ex husband comes from a family of 10 and when all the kids where at home his dad came down with cancer. He did end up surviving ..but I know it was a huge drain on the family.

While we do not have a special day set aside in Australia for Thanksgiving - my everyday is being thankful. You my friend certainly need our love and support and you have mine along with my prayers for all of you - healing in body healing in hurt to see a loved one suffer and healing in emotions. All of these I hope for you. You bless me with your story.

I wish I had something to say that could comfort you, but I do not know exactly what to say. When I need comfort myself, I turn to scriptures and those who know the scriptures well and might have more relevant verses memorized than I do Just know I am praying for you and your precious family and the man you love so much. I pray for healing, I pray for strength and for comfort and peace of mind. Stay strong and keep trusting in God, no matter what. Rely on the people He has placed in your path who are willing to be of help in anyway they can. And know you will be seen through anything, you and your family.

My heart goes out to you and the children. It sounds as though you are at the end of your rope and understandably so. I agree with delkroemer that trusting in God, reading scriptures and having faith that God can and does heal is the best message of hope that anyone can offer you. All things are possible if we only believe. My prayer for you is that the Lord will strengthen, comfort and keep you. I pray that He heals your husband and brings him through... speedily. I will be waiting to hear the good news.
