Hello fellow WAHM'ers. My grandfather, Delbert, who is 85, has been in the hospital since Saturday night. His health has been getting progressivly worse in the last few years and has declined greatly the in the last few months. He was put on home health about 2 months ago. Friday afternoon he was found passed out in the ditch after going to check the mail. Saturday he was found again outside, nearly passed out. Home health said both times after checking him it was nothing, although he complained about his shoulder. Saturday night he fell on his way to bed and was knocked unconcious again. This time, we finally convinced my grandma (who had been listening to my aunt and HH until then) to call an ambulance. Once he finally made it to the ER, they ran tests and had no clue what was wrong. We've slowly been fed bits of news from the Docs yesterday and today.
Today we got the full blown story: he is in the end stages of dementia, has fluid around his heart, a blood clot in his heart (which they can't give him the usual meds for because of his condition), a shattered shoulder (which can not be operated on because they said he'd never live through the surgery), and did indeed recently suffer a stroke with has immobilized most of the left side of his body. They are keeping him restrained most of the time due to his violence tendencies brought on by the dementia. They don't expect him to live more than a few months, at the most. And to top it off, my aunt is insisting we put him in a nursing home to die, although we've promised him for years we wouldn't. I'm almost 24 and I understand he is 85 and has lived a good, long life but....it is still very hard to accept this news and I have really been struggling with my (recently re-found) faith these last few days. I just ask all of you who pray to please, please keep my grandfather in your thoughts and prayers, for atleast a peaceful time and that he doesn't suffer through this time he has left. And for my family and myself to be able to accept this and to be able to enjoy the time we have left with him & to be strong enough to make it through this difficult time. |

I have found these scriptures to be helpful and I hope that they can bring you and your family a measure of comfort as well. These scriptures are comforting and reassuring because they are from God's Word the bible and this makes them trustworthy and true. They are promises you and your family can look forward to in the near future and they can also help you to endure in these trying times.
Isaiah 33:24 - "No resident will say "I am sick". "The eyes of the blind ones will be opened"-Isaiah 35:5 Revelation 21:4 "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore". Just from those two scriptures we see that there will be a time when sickness will vanish, death, mourning, outcry and pain will be gone. When God created the earth he made it perfect and because of mans failure to be obedient we have trouble or problems today, but that did not change God's purpose for the earth or mankind and we see that from what he has promised. In due time, the earth will be just as beautiful and peaceful as it was in the garden of eden. Psalm 37:29; 2Peter 3:13 I hope those scriptures help. If you would enjoy more I would be glad to share them with you. Just PM me. |
