Default How do you deal with conflicting information?

To all health and wellness biz builders regardless of company-

There is so much conflicting information in this world. You can google anything and get 25 points of view that are supposedly "true."

Example - I have heard that SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) is bad - toxic. Now I hear the jury is still out. Also I read it really isn't bad at all.

When you are promoting wellness there are 6 sides to every coin it seems like.

How to you make good presentations to prospects when they disagree with you based on someones "research?"

Any and all input is appreciated!!!

Smile Great question!

Obviously we are all a little biased in favor or our companies but I try and be as objective as possible when presenting the benefits of my products and when I look at others, I consider the source.

If a study was conducted by or paid for by the company that stands to benefit...that may be a red flag. There are certain agencies and research facilities that are more "objective" So I would believe findings by the National Institute of Health before a private company trying to substantiate claims for its products.

I also look for testimonials about products or complaints about side effects.

It is hard because it is not always easy to determine who is really behind a study.

Sometimes it is just common sense. I often think about margarine. Is it safe or not? Well, no one seems to know how the body disposes of it. That can't be good. And, is genetically modified, artificial anything ever better or safer than the real thing?

I hope this helps but I love the question and hope it gets more response.

I've found that if I feel it's not an issue, I attract the people that don't feel it's an issue either. There are probably half and half of people that have an issue with one of the ingredients in my company's products, maybe a little less than that. But I don't find it an issue based on my research and it's funny that I never get the prospects that find it an issue enough to not want to do it.

When we have an inner conflict on something it's easy for our subconscious to project that on to people we talk to, and they inevitably ask us about it.

In my previous company I feared SO much people asking me how much money I was making (because I was barely making anything and there weren't that many success stories lol) and guess what question I got all the time, I mean ALL the time?

"How much money do you make?" Kills me to this day to think about it lol! But when I started with my current company there were SO many success stories that even though I wasn't making a whole bunch of money yet, I knew I would be based on sound evidence. So I carried myself that way, and no one has asked me that question, because they can already see through it and they know I'm doing ok by how I talk about my company.

So my suggestion is to get firm in your beliefs about your company (which I'm sure you are getting there if you aren't already) do whatever you need to do to get there and you'll find it's less of an issue

Default Great Answer!

Great common sense answer! Love it! I find that people that start to argue these types of points don't really want to start the business and they are looking for reasons to shoot it down anyway!

I agree. some people do just use it as an excuse. However, some people do have legitimate concerns about what is in our food, food allergies or fears (whether valid or not) and I think your topic raised a really good question.

We all should do our "due diligence" when it comes to what we ingest.

Sometimes the people who ask the most questions and are the most skeptical can end up being a great asset. I haven't had any issues with my product because of the independant, double blind, placebo studies on the health benefits that ended up being published in medical journals. When I can prove to people that our product absorbs 98% at the cellular level within 2 hours there really is no argument. Having said that it all boils down to sharing a personal story. People respond to that more than anything else.Sometimes people are not ready and sometimes people are ready to kill your dream because they don't have 1 of their own. When you come across the dream killers just move on! lol
