In our town, a couple of us are kicking around the idea of starting a Fit Club. It's very popular in places like California, and with the younger, already healthy-ish crowd. The concept is that it's a weekly/regular gathering in a central spot (popular on the beaches...not too many of those around here in Minnesota!), totally free, just a fun change to be active with others. Maybe it's a fun adult game of dodge ball, or a workout lead by an instructor, or a vigorous hike in a park, or whatever the group seems to want. No product sold, maybe samples given out. Just wondering how the idea sounds to gals like us....busy moms! You can be honest!

I honestly think it is a great idea. I think those are good arranged via MeetUp groups. I live in California so can not speak for other states. I know it is harder for us grownups to get out and play...we need to for so many reasons.
Relationships ie new friends Physical Activity Networking not just opportunities to tell them about what we do but to learn and help advance other people as well. Growing as a person, meeting people not in our normal circles Learning a new sport or activity just for beginners...

I like the idea. It's a lot easier to stick to a diet plan or active lifestyle with the support of other like minded people.

Thanks ladies! I agree with you both on all the benefits, support and fun. Luckily we have a central gathering spot in our town with a huge park, so I'd like to also invite kids to play at the park too, or have some family-centered activities too. Much better than sitting around watching cartoons on a Saturday morning!

I probably would. I need the motivation, lol.

My gym just started something called fit club...but it's a promotional thing. Like every 4 classes you take you get a free prize. A t shirt, gym towel, water bottle, and if you complete 12 classes by sometime in Feb you'll be entered to win a free year of gym membership.
But on the idea you said, I totally would. My hubby is about to start the next 90-day challenge with me, after that I'm sure he'd be up for it too!

Even if it were just once a week or so - would be fun!

My Herbalife team is starting up a 24 fit club / boot camp to kick off next month. We are hoping to attract other busy moms like us who just need help keep motivated and wanting to loose weight / get fit / be healthy.
I think they are a great idea. We recently visited one down on Daytona Beach with an amazing number of members. We are in NE Florida and not quite near the beach, so we know we may not have as many people, but helping any is what we are here to do. |
