they typically offer it to people who did okay, but not well enough.
People who did really poorly don't get offered retest.

You should try emailing them (respond to the original test offer email) and request a re-test.

I am trying to figure out how I could pass the theoretical exam but fail the second?!? I felt pretty sure about the majority of the exam and maybe questioned or struggled with 15 or so items that I saved and worked to revolve in small batches. To top it off, I am a librarian, so it really peeves me that I failed...after doing some sleuthing online I have found some beneficial pointers, but they make it extra difficult to study with no feedback.

Anyway, I am wondering if they will fail you on a technically like having Chrome pop up when you click on a link during the exam- that usually doesn't happen so I didn't think to make the other browser my default. I also would get interrupted by my three year old son and did not always logout while test was up. I am wondering if they time you on the exams or fail you if you do not follow exam instructions to a tee? I know there is NDA but if anyone can share that would be appreciated.

I also don't get why I have to take the first exam over again? oh well....

Part 1 is theoretical. Part 2 relates more closely to the day to day work. Failing the second one is not a sign of being able to do well at the work, because the exam has a deadline and is untimed, and the work is timed and requires both high accuracy and productivity.

Part 2 is really about applying the theory. Knowing the theory and being able to 'think' like they want you to do is different. The job is really about being able to think in a certain pattern. Some people are suited to it some are not.

Well,

It is entirely possible that I just sucked at it, but it is the kind of thing I did for over ten years as a librarian. Albeit it was more of a challenge because there is only a word or a few words to go on. In a library, I had the luxury of asking questions.

Thanks for answering. This time around I am going to time myself differently and def actually look through all of the guideline linked examples again. Here's hoping...

BTW, did you mean: " Failing the second one is not a sign of being able to do well at the work, because the exam has a deadline and is untimed, and the work is timed and requires both high accuracy and productivity." Most would think that I could not do the work if I failed the 2nd exam??

Thanks!!

Grammatical fail before coffee.

The practical exam is the application of the rules. The rules are the basis of 75%+ of the work.

Failing isn't a smart-not smart thing so much as it is about "think like they want you to think." They have a specific thought approach that they want. No training.
