Wanted to get suggestions about timekeeping software to use to help keep track of my time when I do start working as a QR.

I have looked at Toggl--and it looks like a good program but I am wondering if there are other ones out there that are being used and are recommended.

I have QB Pro and I know it has a timekeeping/billing feature but haven't looked closely enough at it to decide whether or not it might work well for this particular situation.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you all might have!

It's www.toggl.com. I prefer their previous version, so once I log in my URL ends up being old.toggl.com. Their desktop widget is buggy, but the live web tracker is perfect for this job.

Okay Sniffy, I need your help here.

I have only been using toggl a short time. I use the one with the separate box that sits on your desktop... duh, I see it says "toggle dektop beta". But, I do notice it starts itself once in a while and is a little buggy. Is this thing I'm using the same as the 'desktop widget' you refer to?

What is the live web tracker, then ? Is that where you have a separate browser page running just for toggl? If it is better, how can I use it?

I should say I tried the url you listed, but it seems to redirect to the main page.

Thanks for any help!
Sue

Hi Sue,

The Toggl Timer Widget and Toggle Desktop are two different apps; the first uses Adobe AIR and the second runs on the .NET framework. They are described here:
www.toggl.com/en_US/public/toggl_desktop

I've tried them and find them both buggy and unreliable.

I love the web client however; I keep it open as a tab in my browser. When I started using the client there was only one version, then another was added which I find too busy, and full of annoying suggestions to upgrade to premium. I find the version I started with is cleaner and simpler, but I might be biased because I'm used to it. I don't think you can navigate directly to "old Toggl," but if you go to "My Settings" there's a link that says "Use the
old version of Toggl

(not recommended)"

I'm on wireless so I find the desktop versions go out of sync with the server a lot when I get my occasional disconnects, but the web client doesn't seem to have this problem.

Although... I just looked at the Toggl blog (blog.toggl.com) and saw this: "We embedded the Toggl Timer into the main view, so no need to open a
separate pop up window to track time. It is now a lot more convenient
to use Toggl." So, I might give this a try again.

I use the web based Toggl. I do make sure I pretty much know what the time in my pop up window is though. I've had 2 times when the project time didn't every transfer over to the report even though it was in the pop up window. So just an FYI

I'm just using the Edgeway Time Clock (got off download.com) - is the limit 30 hours for everyone - or is it different by state?

I've been writing my time on paper. But I did find a couple web time calculators to help me add up all the short random minutes I've been working this week. I may try toggl though. Any others you girls have found that you like?
