More and more the vendors and suppliers are getting fed up with these untrained, unprofessional faux agents. Did you see this from Pilgrim Tours?
Attn. Travel Agents:

Pilgrim is getting an alarming number of calls from prospective travel agents who have purchased memberships and/or travel cards from companies such as YTB, Global Travel International, etc.. They use the company IATA number from the agency in order to get a discount or rebate on their own travel. We also have travel agencies who encourage clients to do all the research on a tour, choose the tour they want and then call their agency for the reservation. If the client has already done the research, the agency will then rebate some of the commission back to the client.

Pilgrim's classifies the above situations as unethical practices that undermine the travel agency commission system. We will not support these practices and discourage honest people from buying into any form of this activity.

Does Pilgrim Pay Referral Commission?
Pilgrim Tours pays commissions to travel agents who refer clients to our product line and help the client through the quotation and booking procedure.Commissions are normally paid only on our Christian Retail Tour Products. We also give commissions and small group net fares to tour operators and approved CLIA agencies that wish to promote our Christian Tour products. It is our policy to not give commissions to agencies if the client has first been quoted by a Pilgrim agent. We appreciate very much the work that professional agents do if they initially deal with clients, but we only pay commission under this condition - no exceptions. Pilgrim also does not pay commission on clergy or industry discounted fares.

Pilgrim Tours will also pay commission to an independent or home-based agent, no matter what company they are affiliated with, as long as their name is on the company IATA list.

In order to receive commissions from Pilgrim Tours, your agency must be a valid travel agency that is not involved in rebating in any form. If you are interested in applying for our "Qualified Agency" status, please fill out the form at the following link

I don't ever remember Pilgrim Tours being that widely used but any vendor who chooses to drop any agency is a sad day.

I'm really interested to know the reactions and comments from the MLMers. The piece that was posted by Scott means nothing to me. So they got rid of RTA cards. Vendors and suppliers are sick and tired of the MLM business model accompanying travel.

YOUR thoughts??

All I can say that is when I have booked with a vendor or suppler, there had never been a negative reaction. They were more than glad to take the money. So that statement is simply not true. Yes there are a few that bowed to pressure, but their are a vast amount that are working with us. I have no problems. I also have not heard from anyone of my colleagues who was turned down by a supplier or vendor refusing their business either.

I am proud to be part of my company. I am happy about the opportunities I have with it. I don't feel the need to have the blessings of the TTA community either. Enuff said.
I wish everyone success in their perspective businesses especially in this economic time.

Well Gail, you just proved your naivete, your misplaced loyalty and stupidity.

When you speak with vendors, you are speaking with reps. You do not speak with the heads of those vendors. MANY MANY vendors are sick of the MLMs. Because they have yet to bow to the pressure DOES NOT mean they love you!!

You don't have to accept it because you wouldn't matter what it said, you wouldn't approve. Truth is that WV is doing EXACTLY what they have to do to stay legit. You never hear of WV being cut off or looked down on (except you poor people)

It is what it is and there is NOTHING you can do but complain.WV is as legit as you are. Something you are just going to have to deal with.

What is funny is this. you are all saying how every mlm's sales are going down, well that also includes you guys and gals. The entire indudtry is down because the economy. Acting like you are not affected is laughable.Edited by: Utopia

Can you supply links to the vendors stating this, or is this just your opinion?

Links from vendors saying this.

Thanks,
Scott
