Question Popping tums like candy-GERD

I was diagnosed with GERD- Gastroesophageal reflux disease 5 years ago. Maybe once a year I get what feels like killer heartburn. It lasts a day at most and goes away. Well 5 days ago it started and lasted 3 full days stopped for almost 2 days and now is back. I have been watching what I eat as to avoid acid, grease, ect. but this is the worst I've ever had it. I don't have insurance so no Dr.

Just wondering if anyone else deals with this and knows of any good OTC medicine or home remedies to make it go away? The strongest tums, rolaids, pepto do not work. Any useful advice is appreciated, thanks.

I would try Pepcid or Zantac. Pricey but I think it works better than more traditional antacids. Also, I know you don't have insurance right now but have you ever talked to a doctor about Barrett's Esophagus? If you have GERD, it might be a good idea to see about checking with a doctor who can evaluate your risk for it.

In the meantime, hope you feel better soon!

I know how painful that can be. I now take a prescription for it, but prior to I tried OTC Prevacid. Hope your feeling better soon!

Default Sounds yucky but works

Try some baking soda in water. It neutralizes the acid. Good luck and keep us posted.

You might want to check out Sherry Brescia's Great Taste No Pain program. I can't vouch for it personally, but I know several people who've been helped by this natural, drug-free approach.

You can get a free report and more info here (not an affiliate link):

I would start drinking lots and lots of water. Simple but effective with digestive issues.
