Default do you run/walk for distance or speed?

I like to run a mile in under 8 minutes (My town is known for incline hills) its its actually the hardest thing I have ever done (LOL) I like to push myself.

What about you?

On the treadmill I do speed...when I have my jogging stroller ( and pushing 2 heavy toddlers) I feel great to get 3-5 miles in , lol

When I was young I was practicing such speedy runs for distance.
But now it's not so interesting and rather harmful in some variants, because of my knees.

Either walk or run since there's a nearby gym in our place and its for free so anyone can do any physical activities there.

When I'm running (which I haven't in a while) I have the twins with me, so I'm not worried about speed.

Fortunately, I am married to a great running coach! I like to run the 5k distance, but do go further every once in a while. I started out running for distance, but now I like to work on improving my time. I usually place in my age group and actually was the overall female winner at a 5k this year.

Speed training takes a lot of work and serious commitment. The training has to be done correctly and only after much running. When I wanted to start speed training, my husband wouldn't even train me in speed until I was running 5 days a week for about 3 months prior.

Last year I tried to run barefoot and ended up with a fractured foot! I couldn't do anything for 10 weeks. I failed to follow the training plan and did too much, too soon. That is never a good thing!

I joke that running is the most brutal sport because it is so easy to get injured. Whatever you do, be careful and do your homework.

I hate running but when I do, I go for distance. Speed kills. Lol I try to do between 2-3 miles and I increase the incline on the treadmill to get a higher intensity workout that way.
