Default May is Family Wellness Month

May is Family Wellness Month, & it's nearly over. Spread the word about this important observance, because it is something that impacts every one of us. Family Wellness Month encourages communities to stress healthy family lifestyles & habits.

Create healthy meals and snacks. Plan family activities that include moving! Play tag or catch, or take a walk. Go for a hunt with the little ones for pretty rocks, interesting leaves or ants! Watching ants carrying many times their own weight, seeing how organized they are. OK, I'm strange, but my kids & grand kids loved it! Teach your children to love the "outdoors," and they automatically will be healthier than if they were playing computer games, watching TV or listening to their IPods.

Teach by example. If you exercise, your children will likely grow up exercising too. If you keep only healthy foods in your home, that is what your family will eat.

Challenge yourself and your family to make one healthy change this month.

I agree with you totally, Julie. It's sad how obese our kids are these days. As parents and grandparents we really need to change our habits to reflect a healthy lifestyle.

You are totally right, just showing proper example yourself you'll teach them right
just saying "that's bad" is not enough, and not effective
