I was just pondering and I realized that I should try to go swimming once in a while for the summer. Especially since the time is getting really hot. Wouldn't this be a good idea? Swimming is good exercise too right?

Yes, swimming is great exercise. I've never been a big swimmer and would love to get better one day. The good thing is it's low-impact and something you can continue even as you age. When my son took lessons at the Y I always thought it was awesome to see so many older folks remaining active by swimming...water aerobics, too!

That has been my summer so far. My girl doesn't know how to to swim. So while she practices her front and back floats and treading water, I do the legs and arms with her. Plus you can do crunches in the water kind of like a back stroke and adding the legs. Really ups the burn. Not many ways to have fun when your kids never wanna leave the water. But love seeing her learn.

Swimming is an excellent exercise. It's non impact,
so there is not stress on the joints. Plus, using your upper body and lower body creates a synergistic exercise which will raise the heart rate higher and provide a better cardio routine. A guy I work with has knee issues, so he cannot do a lot of running/jogging/elliptical type work. But he can swim to work on his cardio fitness. I'm horrible at swimming or else I would do more. My wife is a fish though. Brent

I love my pool. I'm not a great swimmer, but I do ok. Our 9 month granddaughter loves the water.

I certainly agree that swimming is a good exercise too!
I'm into badminton now but I still do swimming from time to time. What I love most about it is that it helps me release my stress and feel calmer. I love being in the water!

Yeah I agree! swimming is the best exercise I guess. This is probably one of the heavy exercise that I can think of that does not show your sweat. I remembered when my sister had her asthma almost killed her. But after a friend of my mother suggested to let her swim then that I believe healed her asthma. That was 5 years ago and until now her asthma never came back.

I love swimming. I only hate wearing a cap and getiting the suit on and off...lol I swim laps and it feels good. I also like that it doesnt feel like preasure or working out. I was thinking of joining the YMCA so I can go do laps every morning too.
