I highly recommend reading the book "Food Rules" by Michael Pollan. It's not a weight loss book, but a way of eating healthier and treating your body right. Since my husband and I started eating most of our food from the farmers market and making our own dishes, we have each lost over 20 pounds. I am down to 135 pounds (a weight I have not seen in over 10 years and never thought I'd see again), only 11 months after having an 11 pound baby!! I also hit the gym twice a week and go for 30 minute walks 3-4 times a week. The exercise definitely helps, but I really find it's the eating right that made the big difference in my weight loss journey.

My body is satisfied. It knows I'm not going to starve it. It is getting the nutrients it needs. I follow a lot of the rules in his book. I eat full fat foods (whole raw milk, full fat yogurt, nuts, etc) and do not watch my caloric intake other than not eating when I'm not truly hungry and trying to diversify my food throughout the day.

I hate seeing so many people have food become the monster as the previous poster mentioned. True food is not the monster. It's the over processed, sugar loaded garbage that is marketed to us as "food", but is more just "something edible". Those items are the problem.

My husband also recommends reading "The End of Overeating" by David Kessler. I personally have not read this book yet.

Sorry if I seem preachy. I'm really into food (I'm a food blogger!) and just want to see everyone enjoy food and being healthy like I am. Hehe!

I eat about 1500-2000 calories a day. I eat high fat-moderate protein-low carb meals/food. I eat fresh/fresh frozen veggies - fruits, nuts/seeds, dairy, etc. I love the fact I get to eat butter on my veggies! I use healthy oils!! I have cut out sugar, most processed items, white flour etc. If I eat artificial sweetners, they are limited to 3 per day. I use heavy cream and davinci sugar free syrup in my coffee everyday.

I have lost 20 lbs in 2 months and have never felt better. I no longer have the food monster living in my brain. I no longer have the "cravings" or "binges". Food has become my friend, not my enemy. I sometimes "forget" that I'm suppose to eat as opposed to always be thinking when my next bite will be.

Amazing feeling.

Default Natural appetite suppressants

Apples -- packed with fiber so you feel filled up longer, wonderful sweet taste so when you crave a cookie - have an apple.

Pickles -- not just for pregnant women! A jar of organic dill pickles has just 50 calories. Crunchy and fun to eat.

Water -- An 8 ounce glass of water can take away hunger's edge.

Green leafy vegetables -- these are often referred to as "negative calorie" foods -- they have so few calories you don't even need to count them! It takes your body more calories to digest these foods than the calories in the vegetables!

Thank you Mother Nature!

There are just so many different ways to loose weight it makes your eyes boggle!!!
I am currently doing Sure slim and found this the easiest diet to follow with great results...but again the 5 hours between meals is really difficult, and goes against all those saying eat 5-6 small meals a day!

I suppose you have to choose the diet that works for you, your lifestyle and one where you get the results that you are looking for.

What we need is a lifestyle change, not a diet. If you cut out the sugars & processed foods and start eating foods that are alive, you'd be amazed how fast the pounds just melt off! I replaced white sugar with turbinado (real) sugar or honey (in my tea) and started juicing (grapefruits are great for losing weight!) and 10 pounds melted off FAST.

You should also detox your liver, as fat can and probably is stored there. I'm about to do a 7 day detox program starting on Monday. If anyone would like to join me, just PM and I can get you the details of the program. I also drink a detox tea every morning that helps eliminate toxins from my liver. I'm almost at my high school weight. (40 pounds lighter!)

Good tips. However, you should NEVER EVER diet. Think back to your first diet, then think about all the struggles you have had since then to maintain the weight loss. All the yo-yoing, obsessively thinking about food constantly, putting all the weight back on PLUS SOME each time. Seriously, never ever diet.

I think there is a lot of advice that is good for nutrition but not necessary for weight loss. For example, eating less of certain foods may be more healthful for a person, but it seems to be more of a diet belief than something that people need to do to lose weight. The simple thing I've found that works is to eat modest amounts of food. Even exercise is negated by overeating (which is likely to happen since people typically eat quite a bit outside of traditional meal times and have a tendency to underestimate calories), so eating moderately in the first place just makes sense. I'd rather eat for how much I move, not try to move for how much I eat. Though we prefer to cook from whole ingredients in our household, rather than processed foods, I still find that moderation is the bottom line for weight management.

Eat more frequently, in small installments. Eat plenty of fresh foods, particularly fruits. I go in for sports regularly ... Speeding up heart rate, strengthen the heart muscle and keeps it vital, consume energy, starts your metabolism, cleanses the skin by perspiration, relieve the respiratory infections, etc.

Talking Lose weight with a diet program - customized diet plan

Hello Ladies,

If you are overweight, I have a fantastic dietician who can give you consultation. I became 20+ lbs overwight when I had my first baby and tried so many things but it never worked out. I finally consulted this dietician who gave me a diet program based on my body weight and eating habits.

I followed her instructions and within 4 weeks, lost 14 lbs without doing any exercise or jogging/aerobic exercise. Some of my own sister and my friends also consulted her and got wonderful results in 3-4 weeks. She prepares different diet plan for each and every one. I saw results within 2 weeks and people really noticed the weight loss. I only ate whatever she advised me to eat and refrained from some types of food.

If you need to consult please let me know. This a very affordable and every one can afford it.

Please drop me an e-mail and I will let you know what to do.

Talk to you soon.
