From Soupsong.com
* onions, sliced thin * 1-2 Tablespoons olive oil * cooked beans * lentils or barley, soaked and rinsed * beef, vegetable, or chicken stock * cauliflower, chopped to bitesized pieces * cabbage, shredded * tomatoes, crushed or cut up (from the can) * corn, fresh or frozen * carrots, chopped * green peppers, diced * potatoes, cut in chunks * garlic, crushed * ginger, freshly grated or powdered * chili peppers, chopped * hot pepper sauce * cayenne pepper * salt and pepper In a large stock pot, heat the oil and sauté the onions until tender. Add the beans, lentils, and/or barley with stock to cover, bring to a boil, lower heat, and simmer 20 minutes. Toss in the rest of the ingredients, bring to a boil with more stock, reduce heat, cover, and simmer until the vegetables are cooked but not too soft--about 30 minutes or so.

I would try the current recipes on the site however add some beef tips or beef in there for protein which is great also for weight loss. Veggies and Meat (Protein) are great and the meat will give it flavor. Make sure that you are adding Beef Bouillon Cubes or 1 tablespoon per quart.

It is one of my favorite recipes, it should ve very useful in cold days. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 4 cloves garlic, crushed 6 cups water 1/3 cup olive oil 3 cups dry green split peas 3 sprigs fresh parsley 1 dried red chile pepper 2 teaspoons paprika 1 teaspoon cumin 1 pinch salt 1 pinch black pepper Directions Fry garlic in the vegetable oil in a big pot over low heat until lightly browned. Pour in water and olive oil; stir in split peas, parsley, chili pepper, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, and simmer for about 55 minutes, stirring occasionally so that the peas do not stick to the bottom of the pot. When the peas are tender, mash them with a wooden spoon until smooth; stir in additional water to reach desired consistency. |

this is the recipe I've tried..
Cabbage Soup Recipe * 6 large green onions * 2 green peppers * 1 or 2 cans of tomatoes (diced or whole) * 3 Carrots * 1 Container (10 oz. or so) Mushrooms * 1 bunch of celery * half a head of cabbage * 1 package Lipton soup mix * 1 or 2 cubes of bouillon (optional) * 1 48oz can V8 juice (optional) * Season to taste with salt, pepper, parsley, curry, garlic powder, etc. Directions: -Slice green onions, put in a pot and start to saute with cooking spray. -Cut green pepper stem end off and cut in half, take the seeds and membrane out. Cut the green-pepper into bite size pieces and add to pot. -Take the outer leafs layers off the cabbage, cut into bite size pieces, add to pot. -Clean carrots, cut into bite size pieces, and add to pot. -Slice mushrooms into thick slices, add to pot. -If you would like a spicy soup, add a small amount of curry or cayenne pepper now. -You can use beef or chicken bouillon cubes for seasonings. These have all the salt and flavors you will need. -Use about 12 cups of water (or 8 cups and the V8 juice), cover and put heat on low. Let soup cook for a long time - two hours works well. Season to taste with salt and pepper. viagra vs levitra Last edited by mimiA; 05-02-2012 at 12:43 AM. |
