Parents Night Out - ?

I am thinking about doing a "Parents Night Out" like once a month or something in my home. I am thinking of having games and pizza while I watch their kids for a few hours. Do any of you do this? If so what would be a good rate to charge??

My kids are past the daycare stage, but I remember when my son was little (15 years ago) my daycare provider would offer an overnight stay about once every 6 weeks or so. I think then I paid either $25 or $40. Or maybe the lower amount was just for part of the evening?

I just know that with my husband deployed overseas at the time I loved taking advantage of it. It was one of the rare times I could go out with friends

Sorry I don't have more current advice, but I think this is something parents would love to have. I have heard from many friends that it is tough to find babysitters they trust for those rare evenings out, and this offers a perfect solution.

I have not done this personally but in my area some gyms do a parents night out. They usually charge $6 per hour for around 3 or 4 hours max.

Hmm, not a bad idea, but I'd be a little wary about doing it by yourself. If you have someone to double up with that would be worth it. Those kids get a little rambunctious sometimes. But in terms of pricing, i'd say more of a flat fee. My husband and I have paid teenage and college babysitters $25 to $30 dollars to watch our preschool and elementary age kids for a few hours in the past. Now multiply that by at least 5 kids minimum and you've made decent money for the night while the parents get a well deserved but quick break away from home.

Love the idea. I'd charge 5-10 per child, with a discount for siblings.

In my opinion $5 or $10 would not be enough for me to actually do that. Simply because when I do it I am going to keep them a few hours, organize games, order pizza, drinks and things like that. So I need to make sure I am making enough. I believe most people charge $20/Kid.
