Default Captain leaving the sinking ship

What do you think about the captain who left the cruise ship that was sinking?
Do you think the captain should stay with the ship?

Personally I think he should have stayed until all the passengers were off the boat!

I agree completely. This Captain is in a lot of trouble. After he went off course the least he could have done is showed some leadership after the rocks tore through the ships hull. This guys seems to have not cared. It will be interesting to know if he was under the influence or not.

The funny thing is that now he is claiming that he didn't purposely abandon ship. He was helping passengers, tripped and fell off the ship into a lifeboat. How convenient!

Yeah something is not right with this whole situation, compare this to the pilot who landed in the Hudson River and made sure every passenger was accounted for!

I was just going to make a new thread about this. I saw it on the Dr. Phil show and I'm so shocked! I think he most def should have stayed on that boat with all 4,000+ passengers! This is crazy and my prayers go out to all the families and victims affected by this. I know right now in Minnesota, they are still searching for a couple who was on that ship. Too sad, smh.

There are so many "witness" statements, it's difficult to know what really happened once the ship hit the rocks. One crew member said the Captain was still insisting his crew bring him and his lady friend their dinner - 30 minutes afterward. IF true, I guess he was a bit distracted from his duties.

It will likely take months to sort this all out, however, there is no doubt that the Captain left the ship - intentionally and voluntarily - before the passengers. Since he knew it was his fault to begin with, I think he panicked and ran.
