Okay, I know the Edison boxes. That's the sample they sent with my kit when I ordered the Xmas lights. It's very light in color, so you shouldn't have the ink-cracking issue that the red boxes have.

I have been wondering about NEC. Maybe I'm not reading their website correctly, but it seems like you have to make a whole bunch of items (like hundreds) in order to get paid, which seems like it would take forever. It always seemed to me like for the time you spend, it would be easier to make more money with Tiny Details. How has your experience been? How many pieces do you have to make as part of a kit?

Thumbs up Got approved again!

I just got my letter back today approving me on the 1950 Girl Calendar. I have already finished my kit, so I'm going to try to get it out tomorrow to submit for payment. So if all goes well, I should be getting paid for my Washingtons and the Girl Calendar soon.

I got my 1950 girls calendar yesterday in the mail. Yeay! I tried to start them today, and I can't find my Cutterbee siscors. :-( I will have to get a new pair tomorrow. I do have one question. Somehow, I lost my samples that they sent me. Don't ask me how that happened. haha The gluing on the calendar months......how far are you suppose to life the months up when they are dry? How much of the month are you suppose to see when you lift up the pages, does that make sense? I think I'm going to use a toothpick to lay down the glue on each page as I glue them down so I don't get glue all over the place, anybody else do that? If anybody can help me that would be awesome!

Technically, you are supposed to be able to see the name of the month when you lift up the pages, but the sample they sent me was glued like halfway down the page.

What I do is just squeeze out some glue on a piece of paper. Then I dip my middle finger in the glue just enough to get a tiny dot of it on the tip of my finger and run it along the edge of the top of the December page. Then I get the November page and slide it up from the bottom so that I don't get any glue on the back of it that will stick to December. That way, November only gets a thin line of glue at the top that was already at the top of December. Then I just repeat the same process for the third page.

I use only a tiny bit of glue so that it doesn't squish out when you put the pages together. If there's enough that it squishes, then it will squish in between the pages to where they will stick to each other too far down.

I keep a slightly damp washcloth on my lap so I can quickly wipe the glue off my fingers in between if I need to.

I hope that makes sense. It's hard to describe all these types of tips without being able to demonstrate.

Default new to forum

hey all i just got done reading all the threads in this td forums...lol all 97 pages. i just got my kits for nec so havnt done anything yet but i was also interested in td...any suggestions. i was thinking on the playing cards and i know some of you tried those and had hard time..can i ask what was the problem with those. from what i read and gathered you just had to cut to make sure no grey was showing. so i guess i not understanding how that was too hard. i am not critisysing anyone just wanted to know why it was what is was. well thanks in adcance and hope to be part of your tiny world. lol thanks again.

Di, wow, I didn't know they had black boxes. But it should be easy to take of the cracking with a black marker as I have been doing with the red ones. The only problem is that the red was a different shade on the different printed sheets, so the same marker doesn't really work for all of them.

I am waiting for word back (and payment) on my Washington Calendars, and have also sent in my completed kit of 1950 Girl Calendars. I have nothing to work on right now because I am still waiting on replacement supplies to finish my Xmas Lights boxes and my kit of books. So, just putting stuff on eBay this weekend instead of crafting. I sure wish it didn't take so long to get supplies.

Jessielee, I'm sorry I can't offer any help on the playing cards because I haven't done them. But I think the difficulty is there are just so many of them (52 per deck x 100 decks = 5200 cards) and they are just SO tiny! If you figure even very conservatively that it would take you 15 seconds to cut each card, it would take you 21.7 hours to complete the kit. That's 3 days of full-time work. And it probably takes more than 15 seconds to cut each one. If it takes you 30 seconds for each one, it would take 43 hours (a full work week!) to complete the kit.
